Clear flaws in the rules and moderation tools in cases of racism against certain groups and nations

The context of the situation: our empire has been under attack by another empire for over a week. The aggressor empire, in an attempt to call for help, has contacted the "black flag" empire and its leader, SwitchStix, under the pretext of "liberating a small empire from a Russian tyrant."

Yesterday, at approximately 10:00 UTC+3, SwitchStix began spreading incredibly offensive, v*al, and inappropriate messages about Russia and it's people (photos above).
We were obviously shocked by this behavior and immediately created multiple tickets to address those inappropriate actions. However, I personally suspected that our tickets would be ignored (which is exactly what happened), so I wrote to one of the moderators in advance to speed up the process of taking action.

Unfortunately, due to the time difference and the lack of moderation in the Eu time zone, SwitchStix was able to write these messages for over 6 hours.
From 10:00 a.m. to ~4:00 p.m., he continued to post almost non-stop. Later, around 5:00 p.m., we saw his last message, and he disappeared from the regional chat. However, just 2 hours later (20:00 utc+3), he was already online, proudly informing people in the chat that he had been banned for only a few hours.
I repeat, he had been banned for a few hours for 6 hours of hatred, aggression, and racism in the regional chat of the 13+ game!!

I think all Russian players in the 7th region, are very grateful to the many community members who have expressed their support throughout the day as SwitchStix spread hatred . I am proud to be a part of this community

However, we are extremely disappointed and hurt by the moderators' response. 0 hours of chat ban and a few hours of in-game ban are not an adequate response to 6 hours of relentless bllying and harssm*nt, and you cannot change my mind. I believe that the rules and penalties for such violations must be reviewed.

Lets not make such strong conclusions, but devs definitely need to be more involved in chat moderation, and take actions against hate speech (based on ingame or real life)

Chat-bans start off at relatively short duration, and escalates pretty quick over here. In the region I'm part of, we have a player who tend to be quite the aggressive chatterbox. They tend to catch the chat-bans quite often for the numerous amount of things.

Now obviously, I've noticed that the more you get your chat-bans, the longer it will escalate.

Sure I'm not gonna argue that moderation are fairly lenient on punishment overall, and sometimes can use a little tightening on various degree.

This require a CM's input on the matter since they know what to handle best in these cases.

Many years of experience with community managers and moderators who allow such situations usually shows that only categoricalness and wide publicity allow you to gain the appropriate experience in moderating chats.

And as we see, this is exactly what happens 🙂

Do you think that 6 hours of negative statements about Russia, that we are terrorists and we should burn, that we are aggressors, that we attacked Ukraine, do you consider this to be 1 violation? This is already national and political incitement to hatred! Do you think it deserves 1 hour? well... It's a pity for this game if a huge national community leaves you.
