As we see claims get more and more barren with players clearing out the lands in pursuit of resources, perhaps it would be a cute little addition to have resources slowly regenerate and eventually heal back to full if they are not depleted entirely. This would especially be suitable for the plant-y resources, such as wood, berries and fibre plants as they would fit the fantasy and offer some of the most aesthetic appeal to landscapes. It would also encourage a form of play centered around land management, giving something more for settlements to be able to work on, like maintaining a forest or the like.

So, in one of the alphas they tested a game world wide respawn system. There were no 'nodes' so much as 'yes, this tier resource can respawn here if something else isn't already there'. What happened was that all the fish and all the birds and all the flowers ended up in 0 population areas. Meaning, that you had to go a world spanning trip in order to gather x tier whatever. It was highly annoying.
That happened slowly. But eventually everyone world wide was like, where are all the x resources? It was a neat idea, and my understanding is that there is still some of that in place. However, some resources will always respawn within a set area.
I could be wrong, but that's my understanding.
thanks for letting me know thats super interesting
I don't mean to suggest something so far ranging like things wouldn't respawn unless you left them half cut, more like if you do leave something half cut, it will regenerate at a pace slightly faster than the respawn rate of resources to give some marginal or potentially significant benefit for leaving resources up
Interesting.
