Feels like tools are the main focus on this game, the most important commodity (time saving) is tied to them and almost exclusively to them. In a game with an ungodly amount of grind time, this is a MUST have. I wish levels actually increased gathering and processing speed, and tools decided which tiers we could interact with. Because right now, levels are empty numbers and tools are everything. Let us shove away 0.1 second every 5 levels, hell, maybe even every 10 levels, tied to tier progression.
#Levels should mean something

But tools are gated by level so that level does have meaning. And I'm hesitant to make pros better at T1 tasks than newbies too much because the game currently does a good job of making newbies always have a purpose and I don't wanna lessen that any more than necessary. Especially since using high level tools on low level tasks ALREADY shaves X time off your total crafting time via wack power.
The only meaning is to gate new players away from better tools, for the sake of just unnecessarily prolonging the grind time for no reason. Also I don't see the issue of newbies using better tools, it encourages better cooperation with new players, we can give them better tools and they feel more included and happier. They would still have a pretty long grind for level ahead of them, do I don't see any issue in giving them a little help.
So you want to remove tools as the form of level gated speed and replace it with level gated speed?
Not entirely, but tone down the tools focus. So you give a little boost to new players by giving them a better tool, but the other half they have to earn by leveling up.
