BitPlanner is an app for Windows, Linux, OSX and Android that provides helper tools for BitCraft players fully offline. Currently a crafting calculator and travelers tasks lists are implemented, with more tools to be added in the future (statistics + gathering time and effort calculator is the main priority for the next release).

As someone who has no idea about github @iron briar , how do I go about using this app? From the images it looks great and I'd love to use it πŸ™‚ Thanks

any plans to add building recipes to it as well?

thank you very much!

green matrix
#

actually have another suggest, to add labor points and an estimate time for it, if it hasn't been suggested before

green matrix
#

the effort to craft

#

we call them labor points in our group

# green matrix the effort to craft

as mentioned in the first post, gathering time and effort calculator is the main priority for the next release. As for crafting, I will need to look at it.

ah sorry, didn't notice it

is this data live fed or manual input? ie if they change a bunch of values in the game will it be a quick update or are you going to have to manually update them all invidiually?

green matrix
#

should be linked to the games api i think, otherwise we wouldn't be able to see anything from T5 to T10

astral fable
#

it's not linked to the live server but a dump from the live server, so we just need to rerun a script or two to update it

green matrix
#

oh that interesting

#

gonna guess the exe is also not live updated and would require a manual update from the users side?

astral fable
#

yea

#

potentially if it's just a data update the user could download the new data files? but that's prob more complicated for most people

#

nope, i think resources are bundled into the exe

I was thinking of implementing data update without updating the whole app, but wasn't sure whether it's really needed. If things will continue to do the way they did for the last week (we had some changes in crafting recipes as far as I remember), I guess there will be a point to do that. But that's not a priority for now.

they've made my life a pain but i still have a bunch of cobbled together local scripts that should be able to do it quickly yea

#

i've disabled the automation on github for now

BitPlanner v1.1 is out!

Unfortunately I had to delay implementing time and effort calculator, but there are many improvements to the crafting calculator:

  • Crafting calculator now has tabbed interface, allowing to open and switch between multiple items
  • Base ingredients list is now generated for all opened items
  • Items in the base ingredients list are now grouped by profession/skill
  • It's now possible to copy crafting trees in text form
  • Recipes sorting was improved, avoiding inconsistencies in recipes order for similar items
  • Items in crafting overview can now be filtered by profession/skill when searching
  • Fixed a bug causing incorrect items to appear in a crafting tree
  • Small UI fixes
  • Optimizations for release builds (except OSX build) were applied, decreasing binaries size by approximately 30%

I want to thank @tender flame and @wanton cipher for giving valuable feedback and information about the game mechanics. Also big thanks to anonymous patron who made a generous donation. ❀️

This is cool, but it sucks finding out that all this time, building my bitcraft calculator has been a waste of time.

#

There's always someone who almost instantly builds some helper app. 😭 Feels bad trying to make anything unless I'm ready to build it in less than a week.

#

Thanks for building this though. It will be useful.

I had the same feeling seeing other people trying to make crafting calculators when I started working on BitPlanner. But I suppose it's fair to say I managed to make something superior, at least for now. Although indeed I had to be in haste, and so there were some decisions made that I'm unhappy with, and this can't be easily changed.
Nevertheless, you are free to contribute to the project. Or make a fork. Or make something your own that will be better, I will be fine deprecating BitPlanner in favor of something more useful and polished. πŸ™‚

I feel the same. Most hobby developers would not mind at all if someone else came and made something truly better. We do things because we find it fun or we think the end product is useful to us. It would be a relief if someone else made something awesome while following in our footsteps and took some of the burden off of us.

BitPlanner v1.1.1 released!

This is a small, mostly bug-fix release.

  • Added ability to update game data without updating the app, you can check and download updates from About page
  • Tiers are now shown for each item in a crafting tree, helping to differentiate between items without a need to remember prefixes
  • Items are now better sorted in the base ingredients list
  • Fixed an issue causing some items to be incorrectly listed under unknown profession in the base ingredients list
  • Missing icons were added
  • Generic names are now retrieved correctly for more items
  • Fixed an issue on Android causing data to not load at all
  • Minor UI fixes

There's an unscheduled update for BitPlanner data available. It doesn't add anything new (as there was no updates for crafting data in the game for past few days), but contains some fixes:

  • Tools doesn't have empty recipes anymore;
  • Tools' rarity re-rolling recipes are now always the last in the list of recipes;
  • Fixed missing icons on some items (this doesn't fix icons for new items, but there were some old items that has missing icons due to wrong icon paths in BitPlanner data).
You can update the data on About page of the app.

Is there a way to turn it into a checklist? 1: for collecting base resources and 2: for when you have some crafted resources
