#Can't find a single Jakyl

I just started playing this game today and was trying to complete the tutorial quest where I kill a Jakyl for the sword guy. I spent a long time looking, taking advice from players in chat for where to look, but could never find a single one. Attached is a screenshot of the area I searched.

A player mentioned that Jakyl dens can be dismantled and only respawn once per IRL day. Is it possible that Jakyls have basically been purged from the map for the day? If so, it's a massively bad experience for new players.

apparently jakyls take up to 2 hours to respawn, at least ones not spawned by jakyl dens. as someone who played in the last alpha test, not being able to find jakyls is much much better than finding them everywhere

it's hard to see the true effect jakyls have on the experience since players can't really make their own claims in the demo, which would have required them to leave the safety of the starter biome

as a quick solution to your problem of not being able to find them, if you go out at night a bunch of extra jakyls should spawn in (and despawn when the sun rises).
