it's singleplayer with an optional Co-op with a few people, in no way is it an MMO or even less MMORPG
Nuh uh

If you call Genshin a MMO, I'll call Minecraft a MMO.
minecraft is more an MMO than Genshin
Well some priate hosted minecraft servers are mmo's
Exactly.
When does a single player game become an mmo ?
that doesnt help, minecraft is an mmo
When does a multiplayer game become and mmo ?
If Genshin qualifies, any game that can have 4+ players in a session is a MMO.
mmo: massive multiplaer open world
haha. no holy
when a lot of people are sitting playing on the same server most of the time and interacting with each other in some way
yeah. it has to be MASSIVELY multiplayer
Otherwise its a MML
ahh sorry my bad i am just soo used to calling it that
If iirc, Lord British coined the term MMO
i mean to be fair, most mmos are open world
back in the 90's around ultima era
Yeah sorry it is a rpg I got the mmo part wrong
🤝
can you define massive for me 😄 I love talking about the real meaning of MMO
yeah something like that but seems to be more immersive and creative
Na, its gonna be nothing like albion, that is all instanced zones, this is suppose to be 1 huge open world, seamless
Yeah I hope
and almost no combat(?)
If i am ever to take a guess and compair it to a game, i would say Its like a game called Salem the game, or haven and hearth, but without the pvp.
i wouldn't say that it's a big difference, there will still be instances in BitCraft too, even seamless, they can't keep everything on the same server
Battlefield/CoD: FPS
Planetside 2: MMOFPS
Skyrim: RPG
WoW: MMORPG
Large amounts of players in the same world/session and can interact and see eachother.
I hope they add combat later or give option to enable PvP or smth
is hunting combat?
yes
Don't know
but that is under pve
Does the prey fight back?
unless you want to hunt players
Human leather chairs?
We Rimworld now?
They can, if the world is only loaded in the chunks that are currently visable by online players.. There are already games that do this.
i would make these
yeah i called that seamless instances
it is basically that
Well, if you call it that, then the whole world is the instance. and it is seamless.
but you are not "instanced"
the world of Albion is a number of locations, each is a collection of channels, inside them are dungeons which are locations with channels too
tbh, i haven't seen a single instance in albion except some dungeons
Every map is its own instance, its not part of a "seamless world", it has loading screens and load time depending on your computer and internet connection.
We vastly have difference views on what seamless and instances are to the point i doubt we will ever agree.
I'd agree that unless you can go across the whole thing without loadingscreens (Unless you fast-travel/TP) then it's not very seamless.
i didn't call it seamless, it's just not instances. Instances are timed and players can't just join them if it already started.
This is where we have different views. An instance is more or less a Zone, which is accessed through a loading screen.
It has nothing to do with being Timed or player access locked.
If you are talking about instanced dungeons, then maybe.
Or are you talking about layers?
Might just be misunderstandings.
When I hear instances I think Dungeons and Raids in WoW.
Same, if someone says to me an "instance", its accessed via a loading screen, or a dungeon.. but you could call albions maps Shards i guess?
i can explain what i mean. Seamless world: like Minecraft with chunks; Location with channels or layers: zones in games like WoW or FF14 or many other MMOs where people run around doing quests, killing monsters and each other and stuff; Instance: a dungeon, quest location, PvP arena, etc. where you enter solo or in a party and it generates a temporary server just for you to play for a limited time.
Then this game will be like minecraft then in the open world.
great
One key thing imho you missed also in your explination, is the loading screen to access the instance.
i don't think loading screen means it's an instance. Zones require loading in too
But in some games, like WoW and MC, the zones/chunks load as you approach, without interrupting your journey. Seamless.
But in some games, like Planetside 2 and Foxhole, when you get to the edge of the zone, you get a loadingscreen to enter the next zone. Not seamless.
