#Endgame - PvP

I'm sorry to begin, probably the 50th, pvp discussion, but I think it's important.
First things first: If the endgame is going to be competing with other groups in terms of economy and dominance, there will have to be a system of pvp, otherwise there will just be a grief fest. Players with a tendency to aggression and chaos from powerful groups will find any way to try make other peoples lives miserable, but I believe its better to do it through pvp, than an almost unstoppable way of griefing.
The game already has a good basis for creating an amazing pvp system, where it punishes players for kos by, for example, reducing a players reputation and giving them negative traits, while also not letting them collect many items from the player, as the game already doesnt have massive inventories.
A good pvp system will enable for fun group vs group interactions and endgame wars, in which the destructiveness of it is almost not worth fighting (just like reality), and where different more passive guilds and players can profit off.
If well done, and made so that having a player colab with you, or maybe work for you, more worth than simply killing him, it would make for diversity in hierarchies, where better organized and structured ones would win.
All this would make it simpler for settling disputes and conflicts.

I'll be glad to hear your thoughts on this, thanks!

is there protection against griefing and raiding or is that style of play expected?
We do not endorse or allow intentional grief play. No one should be able to destroy your farm or take your items if you don't want them to. BitCraft is not focused on PvP so many traditional methods of being a pest to other players will not be available. Should any game mechanic turn out to be abused with the goal of spoiling the fun for other players, we will take appropriate actions.

This does not mean there will be no competition in BitCraft, just that direct griefing is not allowed. The details of how you can achieve a grief-free environment in a sandbox world are really important, so we'll likely do a longer form game design post on this topic.

PvP could be cool, but I wouldn’t deem it necessary

#

Since there doesn’t seem to be anyway to destroy someone else’s building (as far as I know) griefing would be a lot lessened as the whole point is to build and level up in skills

#

And yes there’s always gonna be hacking but pvp wouldn’t fight against that (but that prolly goes without saying)

#

But I think you’re arguing that it would be boring without pvp and I don’t think we can quite yet say anything on that yet, however pvp could be cool if implemented in the right way. The best take I’ve seen on this is pvp can only be under agreement and not destroy anything, that way it’s it’s own self contained little thing without involving anyone else and it’s not unfair to either side since they did accept the terms of war
