An already rugged landscape, further deformed by earthquakes and landslides.

Verticality is about building up high? Sure, but that's only the "Timber" in Timberborn. So what about the "born", meaning stream?
Held back by high mountains, the streams in Veldpeak reach only some parts of the map and much of the water drains unused into deep rifts.
So be creative and let the water run high. ^^
These are some of the mechanics:
- Hold back some water at lower levels:
You can build your first little dam in one of the cracks and keep some moisture with little effort. But simple dams alone aren't high enough to create reasonable reservoirs here. - Let the beavers and their buckets do some of the vertical work:
You can use some of the cracks above the starting area as irrigation ditches once you've researched the water dump. - Overflow obstacles to irrigate larger parts of the map:
You can dam the main river near the source and divert it in other directions. - Use the landscape for reservoirs:
Once you have the water flowing where you want it, you can fill up the larger rifts for the long droughts coming. - Turn the river itself into deep reservoirs:
You may consider flooding your initial farmland and relocating your beavers to higher ground. - And, of course:
Build dams, platforms and bridges to cross the rivers, rifts, and cracks, and find suitable places to build batteries.
