I think I realized why Rinascita is so good in terms of narrative.
||I am at the part where I go to the Fools' hideout and meet Bardolino. For one, Rover isn't the center of attention 24/7 nor completely unopposed. The bootleg version of the Fatui are more sinister and don't have full responsibility for everything happening because there are waaaaaaaaay more elements at hand with the plot including the Order and the feud between the two families. The biggest issue of the 1.x patches for me aside from the insane Rover Glazing (that was arguably unearned for a lot of the time) was the fact that our opposition was just Tacit Discords and Scar. Jinzhou is oddly united without any sort of internal opposition. Of course that is thanks to the CN community forcing Kuro to rewrite EVERYTHING (which is why Blue Arurandeisu and Sephiroth were taken out of the picture). The following patches were increasingly better yes. However, for all the hype I heard of the Black Shore, it had really awful pacing. The ending is amazing yet oddly placed. As if the devs last minute needed a big climax. The rest of the Black Shore affliated characters weren't involved except as cameos with Youhu existing just to smugly mock Yangyang and disappear. Shorekeeper is cute but the game never delves that deep into the dilemma of her existence as the core of the system running the Black Shore except briefly and the interesting stuff is mostly in text. Most of the patch is just Shorekeeper being our canon wife. BUT I excuse all that because they were rushing to fix the sloppiness of 1.0 while slow cooking Rinascita. The result is that the writers knew what went wrong and decided to straight up go all out on everything. Characters have actual agency outside of the Rover and, while we are obviously still important, it doesn't take away the characters' own struggles and goals from them. TLDR: If it wasn't obvious by now, the Gathering Wives part of WuWa genuinely made me quit the game back in 1.0. 2.0 being so different is why I'm back and glad.||

The game has three permanent events you can play around

• tower dive but against bosses and some mobs, the Tower of Adversity: requirement, character "stamina" if you run out you can't use them on subsequent floors and has to use other character and hope you don't suck building them

• the door event, which is the roguelite mode where you use metaphor to buff characters, claiming rewards requires the "plates" the stamina system of how much resource you can farm in one domain

• Whimpering Wastes, mob rush tower dive mode where you must kill as fast and as as many as possible with increasing difficulty, it requires no stamina only your game knowledge, also how much you've invested in your characters
