The thing that might make mass resignation for Captain for part 2 are probably because Mihoyo took time to build up their arc. Remember that Honkai experience started at around Chapter 6 which is more than 1 year.
In Genshin it is even worse as they have even bigger universe and longer build up
and releasing Honkai Star Rail took all new players that should be intended for Honkai Part 2

also this current Selen Griseo Hua arc is just epilogue so I skip the dialogue a lot. It is just intended as closure for some plotholes including the mystery of Sea Quanta and what happened to Griseo (and Su actually)
Vita, for me, is not a very good villain but at least better than Kevin.
Otto as villain is still unbeatable

for me my aerial multi-unit spam carried me all way to 38 without issue

you can rely on just ice pig to chip down the enemy base and and the rest of the cards can be tailored to defending or stalling

pig doesnt get gimped too hard by the cyclone spell every other stage spams too so thats another plus
