When i merged my fertilizer i got one of a lower grade

i had 2 elephant fertilizer and i wanted to merge it with some dog fertilizer. when i put them in bessie the elephant fertilizer was highlighted green but all i got was some dog fertilizer. idk if its a bug but i dont want to load in my previous save cause i just bought some cool funiture and it might be a while till its in yori's store again. i'm not too mad about it just annoyed cause i needed some fertilizer and used it all 😭
