#Fatal error at launch

I'm sorry you are facing this issue, tadpole. Thank you for sharing your log, I'm poking our devs and will get back to you as soon as I have an answer!
Thank you, it is a blocker for me to play on my pc.
Hey @feral sigil! I'm sorry about the crash, but I'm sure we'll be able to figure it out!
First, could you please make sure you're on the latest graphics drivers? If you are (or updating them doesn't help), could you please:
- go to the game folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ikonei Island - uninstall Epic Online Services by running the UninstallEOSServices.bat file
- reinstall them by running EpicOnlineServicesInstaller.exe
- and finally try running the game again? ๐
Also, thank you for the log, would you mind sending us the crash dump as well, please? You can find it here C:\Users\*USER_NAME*\AppData\Local\Castaway\Saved\Crashes, just zip up the latest folder you find there and send it our way, thank you!
Feel free to let me know in case you got stuck somewhere! Cheers!
Hello, it fixed the issue, the game now launches ๐ thanks
Awesome, I'm happy to hear that! Have a great weekend! ๐
I have followed the above instructions, and the game still shuts down as soon as I enter the world. I have included the files as requested on the top of this bug-reports forum. I have NVIDIA, but started in the first mode instead. Also, my program files are not on my C drive. They are on my D drive instead. Is that the problem? Thank you.
Hey @nimble spindle ๐,
I'm sorry you're having these issues, hopefully we'll be able to get to the bottom of it.
When you say the game shuts down as soon as you enter the world, do you mean you manage to get to the main menu, but it crashes after you try to load a game? ๐ค
I get to the main menu, then I choose the option at the top of the options list it is labeled "Continue". After that, I get a loading screen. Then, it pops up the error that is in the screenshot I sent. I had assumed that I made it into the world, but maybe it just interrupts the loading screen for the error.
hmm, interesting.. could you please try and start a new game in another save slot, when you get a chance? ๐
Sorry, it did not tell me that there were any new posts here, and my mom just got out of the hospital.
I have never had the option to start a game, only the options listed in the new screenshot I sent. They have been the same options since the first time I launched the game.
Also, I have only been inside the game for not even 10 minutes total since I bought it, but it reads that it has been 51 minutes. I was looking at it and it went from 49 to 50 after I logged out, then, a few seconds later, it went to 51 on its own. I was in the game for less than 30 seconds, just enough time to take a screenshot. I am absolutely positive that I've not accidentally left it running at any time.
I do not see the screen shot I included with the last message...did it get removed, or did it not actually post?
Hey, MistressK3L! Sorry for not answering you before. I checked and the screenshot apparently didn't went through - could have been some issue with Discord. Are you still getting the same error? And were you able to start another save slot?
No worries, I know you guys are busy. I can not start any slots at all-only the options to Continue, Load, or to Join a Game. From the very first time I launched the game, I get the same menu screen. I will share the screen shot again now. Thank you!
The file should be uploading.
Should I uninstall and reinstall maybe?
Thank you for the info! Yes, please install it again while I pass this to the team so we can understand what happened. ๐
It is doing the same thing. This time, when I clicked continue, it shows that I apparently played the game over a year ago for 32 minutes. I do not remember ever playing the game, AND, that game did not show up when I clicked continue before. Nor on my Steam timestamp.
I installed it back when I submitted my first ticket about the problem on September 3, 2024. But, that was the first time I installed it. Also, when I first posted here in the forums about it, Steam said that I had 2 minutes of playing time-which would have coincided with the time that I was trying to start a game that first time on Sept 3. The other day, I reported up further on this thread because the timer jumped from 6 minutes to over 50 minutes of Steam play time just out of nowhere after I logged out from trying to troubleshoot and get screenshots. I was thinking perhaps someone installed the game on my PC, however, no one has the password to get into my PC. And in the game, it was timestamped AFTER everyone here was either at work, or sleeping. But that is the only logical thing I can see having happened if someone did play the game already.
