Hey Lunar Client team,
I want to share some feedback about a pattern I've noticed that I think is holding Lunar back from reaching its full potential.
Lunar Client has historically been dominant in the Hypixel space, and that's not a bad thing on its own. But over time, it seems like the majority of Lunar's attention has followed that same audience, with Hypixel even getting a dedicated section in the monthly recap videos. The problem is that Hypixel's player base, mostly Skyblock players, no longer represents the broader Minecraft Java community.
The reality is that Minecraft has changed a lot since 2023. 1.8 PVP is no longer the center of the community, and Hypixel's general population has significantly declined. Modern Minecraft is built around SMPs, newer PVP formats, creative servers, and building communities, and Lunar has been slow to serve any of these players.
Here's where I think the gaps are most visible:
SMP and modern PVP players are missing features that standalone mods have had for years. Builders have virtually no dedicated tooling. There is no equivalent to something like Litematica, or at least a more accessible version of it. The client still ships with a pre-installed Hypixel profile by default, which feels alienating to anyone who doesn't play there. On top of that, Lunar carries a lot of outdated 1.8 focused modules that add bloat for players who have no use for them.
All of this adds up to a poor experience for anyone outside the Hypixel bubble, and I say this as someone who has tried Lunar multiple times and each time ended up going back to standalone mods simply because they serve my needs better.
