well lunar is primarily used in christian majority countries
furthermore, christmas has become kind of a universal holiday which can be celebrated secularly too
just stop talking.
you're speaking right out of your ass, just because it's in your country, doesn't make it a secular holiday. You wouldn't see Saudi Arabia celebrating Christmas, China celebraiting Eit, any european country making Chinese New Year a national holiday.
i do know a lot of arabs who celebrate christmas
the zoo in antwerp actually does chinese new year light event every single year and i go to it every single year 🥰
Not rly... it's a primarily Christian/Catholic holiday. Unless of course they live in a country which does celebrate it
We do too, but it's not a day off like it is in China was the point
I also know atheists who celebrate Christmas, the difference is that although the meaning of Christmas is the birth of Jesus, many do not care, both Christians and non-Christians, just take it as a holiday to spend family time and have a good day, many people celebrate things they do not know why they celebrate.
It still doesn't make it secular
Most muslims in my country just take it as a day off, nothing special
same with other religions
that’s true but i just really like it and couldn’t shut up abt it im sorry please forgive me
I forgive you hope, do not fret
if it is consecutive, it happens every year, that is, if it is in sequence, although universal is a big word, if it is the most celebrated, and although they do not do anything, do not put tree or dinner etc, they continue resting that day, that is, something changes them.
even if they do nothing, many jobs, Chinese, Muslims, Jews, Islamics, etc. even if they do not do anything, they give the day off, because they understand that even if they are not interested, they know that it is something important for many millions of people, and even if they do not have to, they give it off.
The word secular refers to no religious connotations, you're trying to make what is and always has been a predominantly Christian/Catholic religious holiday in to a 'secular' holiday doesn't make sense. The root of the celebration is religious therefore you will always be wrong. Although it has elements such as gift giving and decorations, it is and always will be a religious holiday only celebrated in countries with Christian/Catholic history.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It's really important to remember that Christmas is celebrated in many different ways around the world. For instance, in countries like China, where Christianity isn't widely practiced, Christmas might feel more like a commercial event and isn't a public holiday. This shows how Christmas can be seen in a secular light in some places, focusing more on cultural or commercial festivities rather than religious ones. It's fascinating to see how diverse the celebrations can be, depending on where you are in the world!
omg yes this lesbian ate yall
THANKS
i was talking about extreme christrian majority countries
saudi arabia is an extreme muslim majority country
its ofc not totally secular, but in the west it is transitioning to it
81% of non-christians in the us celebrate it, for example
even in istanbul, a muslim city, christmas they go all out
not religiously, but just because of how universally well-known it is
Instanbul has a strong orthodox past
maybe so, but the current christian population is around 2% i think
It used to be the capital of the Byzantium empire, a Christian empire
i'm aware
but most families converted eventually
Well you can't say it's a muslim city when it has one of the more diverse cultures in europe
everyone had their own history with it
i mean it is tho
by definition looking at population stats
While the population converted, it's not considered a "muslim" city
it's got roots with every religion in europe
it isnt?
source?
google?
i love this thread
no like a website, a paper, smthn yk
i love grinding exp
It's considered a holy city in Christianity
true, that doesnt make it not a muslim city
I mean by your logic, you can say budapest is full of budas
what
exactly my point
i love u
i love YOU.
im not saying budapest is full of budas bc of the name, it's a known stereotype of the city that the name originated from the holy buda of pest
um what
The history of the name of Budapest is when the holy buda walked into the city of pest
no? i dont think so?
You need to take a history lesson buddy!
ok bro just gimme the source 💀
The city of budapest has a history museum, please go and visit!
if i had the money or the time i would

i feel like you just ran out of stuff to say and drove the point in some random direction lo
