reason: theres a mechanic in 1.8 thats very popular in the german scene and its much easier to do when its possible to hit & place blocks at the same time. this is the main reason why many german players do not switch to the lunar client. every other client (badlion, feather, labymod, etc) has this feature and its possible in 1.8.8 and was removed in 1.8.9. its basically 0 work to add this feature and many players would be grateful.
mechanic: its called "op-web". you hit the player and place a spiderweb at the same time

you can use the 1.8.8 version of the game and play on the same servers + every other mc client has this built in
