#M-Rated Experiences

Nah. We don't need this to be in Fortnite.
I think we should instead get more leeway for T-rated experiences.
This would just open up a whole can of worms that wouldn't be worth it.
eh we kinda do
horror games could be enhanced
i think the ID thing is a pretty good idea
the same way they're asking for your ID when you make a team? for uefn
Y’all say this is a good idea until people start to make naked Chun Li maps lol
well... thats why they'd require ur ID
without being approved u wont be able to play said maps
or even view them in discovery
its not that complicated
Why would you want that tho?
And kids totally can’t get their parent’s id and use that instead
Ah yes, bc a parent can be around their kid 24/7 making sure they don’t take a pic of their id
again
up to the parent, kids can access illegal/adult stuff on the internet as well
epic is not ur parent
or any company for that matter
just like artists arent responsible for children listening to explicit music
there's parental control as well
so once again, its up to the parents
epic has given the tools
Why do you even want M rated experiences anyways?
They aren’t, and yet, they got sued bc parents didn’t control what their child bought in game
Epic is not gonna risk getting sued bc of bad parenting again
Pretty sure epic didn't get sued for this exact reason, they got sued for the way the item shop worked as the old version was falling under the 'trickery' category, because you didn't have to hold to purchase, as well as there being privacy concerns. Which is why they've changed a bunch of things, and implemented better tools/parental control/hold to purchase, etc etc.
Having 16+ or M rated islands doesn't necessarily mean suggestive themes/models etc. they could outright ban those for all I care. But there is a point where creativity and games are being limited with the current ratings. You can't have proper horror games because blood and really scary stuff aren't allowed.
You can't have realistic dialogues (strong language/words) between npcs or characters that would include swearing because that isn't allowed either.
Of course, that audience is prob not as big as the silly little modes, but there's still an audience for those games
And those games aren't allowed atm
My honest thoughts good and bad idea cuz 1. this is what people have been wanting for a long time a more mature version of the game as well as creative and uefn maps themed around violence and gunplay 2. Might not be good since epic could get a lawsuit or angry calls from parents.
if u want it make it in ue and publish on eg store
Maybe not allow players of 16 or 18 below to access these maps even with full parental permission.
Yeah
If they implement the right tools then hypothetically they cant get sued
As the tools to stop younger ppl from joining said islands were already there
I dont see why they'd get sued if
- players cant access without an ID that shows they're 18+
- Those maps dont show up until you've verified your ID
- Parental Control exists
What would they sue them for
Allowing it in the first place
Kids always want things they can’t have, as soon as they hear about it, they are gonna try to get it
Kids are smart too, they would find out multiple ways to change it
Using your logic of parents should protect the kid, they should of told their kid and taught them how to not spend money on the game, and it’s not epic games’ fault, but here we are
It would be nice to be able to create what we want, 18+ or not, but epic games is not gonna do it anytime soon as the risk is way too big
