You get more stat bonuses, most of the time it's hero final damage or hero final damage reduction. Level 7 must also have an extra stat boost like squad attack boost or something. You can click on the heros skill to see what it gets to when at level 7 or the next level from what it is

Let's step back for a moment.

Colors don't exactly counter other or their skills.

Colors provide offense and defense bonuses against the countered color

So Yellow gets 2% offense and defense against blue.
Blue against red and red against yellow.

There are skills that benefits or lower the effect of other skills but it's not yellow counter blue situation exactly.

If he got a TA that causes you burn, you can have a skill that increases damage when you are burned, that's why usually it is a "counter" skill (or TA that works only on silenced enemies) but that's oddly specific with that TA really.

So don't really look at colors for it, focus on TA and Hero skill and do the equation there
