He's missing that the point of sword wrath is to be cheap fast and squishy. Tanking is for Speartons who aren't stupid. Actually historically accurate. Plus according to legacy game play Speartons do have short swords. You can't buff sword wrath to be more tanky and still be a sword wrath. That would be literally defeating their purpose.

The reason spear sword exists is because they are a natural combo
Swords constantly tear their tanks apart while the spears tank the hits for them
Even against light units because spears are specialized against light
They can still do well
Against horde armies like crawlers and deads sure you're gonna get torn apart or shot apart against all ranged armies but it's strong in melee only fights because of the flexibility
