Two concepts here: the first one is a new class/tag called hero, which would function like a weaker but also less expensive (mana oriented) version of general, with new and different abilities with minor buffs to the training time of that unit type.
I'll include the first hero as an example which is Xenophon, the guy with the big sword in swl. (Hero of the swordrath)

Xenophon is a mercenary
This doesn't make sense
The hero tag is just the general tag and Xenophon doesn't even have any elemental abilities while in this, he's pretty much wrathnar but with extra vampiric abilities
This version also gives an INCREDIBLY powerful boost to swordwrath for TEN seconds
"weaker but less expensive version of general"
Proceeds to be more expensive and way more powerful
It's supposed to be a weaker general, so maybe 300 health, 15 dmg+5H, and inferno burst lasts 5s?
Cost is 200g and 400m
It says 300g 400m
The rework
But even 200g 400m takes the same miner deposits as xiphos, but due to the higher mana cost instead of a higher gold cost, he is still more expensive than xiphos
400g 100m
Also, swordraths are kinda weak so inferno burst can make them effective and regen a bit of health, but it only lasts 5 s
Swordwrath are the best at what they're supposed to do
This just makes them strong enough to fight in late game and be spammable
