A minimap is literally a small map that shows the positions of units and other important entities in the battlefield. A minimap is a very useful feature to add, as it allows the players to see the areas they control easier, view the status of their gold mines, view their units, and any attacking enemy.
Minimap Design:
- The minimap is a toggleable feature (much like miner stance controls), and when it is toggles, a small arrow will appear on the top right on the screen (first image).
- The arrow can be pressed, and it will show a small minimap overlay, showing your own units, any attacking enemy units, gold mines, crystal mines, statues, and the center tower status (images 2 and 3)
- The fog covered parts are a little greyed out (2nd image)
- Your units are black, enemy units are white, and user controlled units are bright green with a small white halo (image 3).
- Enemy units are red dots, and user controlled enemy units are orange with red halos.
- Statues are black boxes, and the tower is in the center, with its color being indicative of who holds it (image 3).
- Gold and Crystal mines show up, and they are greyed out if they are finished (images 2 and 3)
Certain Experimental ideas:
- Generals could show up as a star instead of a simple dot
- Bosses could be purple dots
- Spells could show up as an area of effect with the icon carved in the middle
