Have you tried forcing the dGPU while playing from windows settings?
like in graphics settings? yes
Im using usbc for my monitor instead of a display port, Ive tried a display port though, and that failed too
like this?
oh like forcing display graphics
like the power saving one? I could try in a bit
I'm losing in valorant ranked rn|
nvm google said the dgpu is the nvidia which im already using, rip
Do you have Nvidia app installed?
And nvidia control panel?
yes
I have latest nvidia drivers, ive tried the gaming one and studio, both have same issue
I've used nvidia control panel for messing with power management but I went back to default settings
Are you on windows insider by any chance?
I don't know what that is so if it isn't a default setting then ima say no
ima google it rq
well I got into it, Im using the bottom option, I forgot which and it gave me an antivirus update so I guess ima play for 20 min and prob crash
brb
it still crashed with that update rip
and exactly 20 minutes lol
I didnt clear the events before running fortnite so there is alot
but if there is anything sus between 4:50 and 5:16 pls lmk
Ive been googling stuff for like 3 weeks
Think you need to opt out of the insiders program, those builds are not stable
I wasnt in it before but ill opt out now I guess
Does anyone know if any of the logs are causing a crash, so I can google smth specific
Better system file (just happened)
Have you opted out of insiders yet?
These crashes you're getting indicates that the game might be switching to iGPU mid game
I checked the event logs you uploaded. Short version: this does not look like an Intel CPU issue, and it probably isnβt an Epic/Fortnite software-only issue either.
The biggest red flag is repeated WHEA Logger hardware error entries tied to NVIDIA PCI devices:
PCI\VEN_10DE...DEV_2860
PCI\VEN_10DE...DEV_22BD
VEN_10DE = NVIDIA
That means Windows is logging hardware communication / PCIe bus errors involving your NVIDIA GPU (or GPU-related functions like HDMI audio). This is much more serious than a normal game crash.
Since you have tried all the software fixes, it's highly likely that it's a hardware instability issue
Especially since your logs showed repeated WHEA PCIe errors on NVIDIA devices.
I'd suggest to get it looked at by a technician to pinpoint the exact issue
Do other high demanding games also crash?
Because your GPU is physically struggling to communicate with the rest of your laptop over the PCI Express bus, the game engine (which is very heavy on GPU communication) loses connection to the card for a millisecond. Windows tries to "correct" it, but the game engine can't handle that tiny gap in data and crashes instantly.
I've only had crashes on apex legends and fortnite , if you know a free high demand game that I can use to test let me know please, also could counter strike be high demand? I have that
Holy shit ur a w mans
I dont have the money so ima have to find a manual
I'm getting tons of these Whea logger events when im not running fortnite and I'm not crashing, is it most likely the pcie thing or something else
Im officially cooked
You canβt take out a gpu cause itβs built in
And the manual doesnt even tell you how to get there
If you are getting many WHEA Logger events even while idle / not gaming, then the issue is not Fortnite-specific. Fortnite may only be the moment where the instability becomes severe enough to crash.
I ran the support assist troubleshooting and it all went through fine
Disable PCIe Link State Power Management: * Go to Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
Find PCI Express > Link State Power Management and set it to Off for both Battery and Plugged In.
Try this
I already tried that, thank you
I saw a post online that said that it removes the warnings
it did not though
oh, it's off right now too π , still errors tho
Im downloading csgo rn to use max settings and hopefully cook my laptop to see if I have that crash
some pages also said it disable fast startup so I did that too and currently have it off
Yeah after trying out so many software level fixes ig it's a deeply rooted hardware issue
do you think that there is a test for it?
Also, if my counter strike doesnt crash it. The only similarties between Fortnite and Apex (2 games that crash) is easy anticheat, could it be that or is the whea event 17 100% the cause?
Yes, you can try it out
If the counter strike does not crash, and I assume that it is somehow an easy anti cheat issue, do you know of any possible troubleshooting I can do for that, if it ends up that way?
I don't think it's the anti cheat or anything because your logs indicate to a PCie lane issue but you can check to see
If I have those issues but do not crash, then what do I do
cause in my head, I think if I dont crash and I have those errors then it can't be a hardware issue, or that whea issue being the crash cause
Test with OCCT
It's the best software test
While running the test look at the bottom of the window for an "Error" counter. If that number starts climbing (even if the laptop doesn't crash), it confirms your GPU hardware is physically failing to transmit data correctly.
3D standard mode on OCCT
mine looks like this
is 3d standard the 3d adaptive on steady?
cause that was my default
Yes, you can start now
thank you
23 min in no errors so far, cs has been running max settings for 30 minutes and no crash
π
it might really be easy anti cheat stuff or smth
Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat_EOS\
Right-click EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe and select Properties > Compatibility.
Ensure nothing is checked (no compatibility mode, no admin).
Do the same for EasyAntiCheat.exe in the Fortnite folder: ...\Fortnite\FortniteGame\Binaries\Win64\EasyAntiCheat.
Go to the Fortnite install folder: ...\Fortnite\FortniteGame\Binaries\Win64\EasyAntiCheat.
Right-click EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe and Run as Administrator.
Select Fortnite from the dropdown and click Repair Service.
Check for "Kernel-Mode Hardware Abstraction"
I have this one, I run as admin, a panel comes up quickly and then closes
I am unable to do the last part
ima google some stuff
Google is so ass
It told me to run compatibility and as admin so I did and that didn't work
I did it with the services too, all fails π
even the comments under the youtube videos says that the video maker sucks and it doesnt work
so far no error π 8 min left
just posting this to post
Ima restart my laptop rq and try the easy anti cheat thing again
Yeah im out of ideas
I fresh installed easy anti cheat and I still can't open it (it insta closes)
Bro I think there's some major internal issue in that rig of yours, so far none of the fixes worked out and yet the components are looking healthy
yeah idk what's going on
every game is working fine though
besides fortnite and apex
π
type windows+R then winver, show me the SS
I ran counter strike for an hour max settings and it was perfectly fine
I already am on 25h2 so idk why it's downloading it again
Since your hardware passed the OCCT "stress" test but is still flooding your logs with Event 17 errors, we have narrowed it down to PCIe Signal Integrity.
do you know if there is something unique about fortnite and apex on the PCIe that is not in other games?
Im currently googling if there are pcie test apps to see if I can pass those even with these warnings
Can't tell but what I got online it seems fortnite relies heavily on the PCie lane loading from the SSD to the CPU and to the GPU
Whereas other games rely on RAM and VRAM usage
Can you access your BIOS?
yes
I am on a laptop though
google says I have less things in my bios than other systems
which is irritating
Go to BIOS and try this one last step:
Go to Advanced or Performance.
Look for PCIe Configuration or Bus Speed.
Find your GPU slot (usually labeled Slot 1 or Discrete Graphics).
Change the setting from "Auto" or "Gen4" to Gen3.
I dont think that is in there, I believe ive tried before, ill go do it now though
Still in the Advanced menu, look for ASPM or PCI Express Link State.
Set it to Disabled
What? Did dell lock BIOS again? Good grief
I wish there was an app that let's me do what they block
brb again tho
yeah it wasnt there
Then try to force it through these steps:
Press the Windows Key, type cmd, right-click it, and select Run as Administrator.
Copy and paste this command exactly and hit Enter:
powercfg -attributes SUB_PCI 0e796fda-11c8-47d9-987a-94a20557973f -ATTRIB_HIDE
Now, press Windows Key + R, type control powercfg.cpl, and hit Enter.
Click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
Look for PCI Express > Link State Power Management.
Set it to OFF for both "On Battery" and "Plugged In."
Restart your laptop.
is this for command prompt? powercfg -attributes SUB_PCI 0e796fda-11c8-47d9-987a-94a20557973f -ATTRIB_HIDE
oh yeah this is cmd prompt I didnt see the first line mb
cause that didnt work
and the bottom stuff like link power state management I already have both set to off
why does my laptop hate me so much
Im using google while I do this and typing to you, I promise im not trying to make you do everything
Im running DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth rn like google said
I've done that like 9 times already but idk, it tells me to do that alot
when I google stuff
Yep it's official. Don't try any more stuff and waste time. Just contact Dell support and tell them the whole story
Ok but did they tell you the exact issue for which they are charging that amount? Like PCie or GPU or anything???
no
They just said "pay $99, we will try to fix it, you will probably lose everything, if it fails, we will refund" so I assumed it was a fresh windows 11 install which ive done 6 times . that did not work
I also saw multiple instances where high end alienwares broke after couple of months of buying
Ive had mine for 2 years but my fortnite had these issues for the last like 7 months
I have one last attempt before I go to bed
Is there an app that summarizes this
When I do sfc /scannow when my laptop is on, it shows no issues but when I run it in like the bios or whatever, it always says corrupted files
This cbs log is the scannow stuff. It always says successfully repaired but then if I do it again I get the same stuff, so idk
wtf π
im on 4.0
google told me to get this app to see pcie stuff
