i'm gonna became crazy with this AIO...
Anyone here tested the Z73 Kraken on any LGA1851 CPU?
i'm reaching 100ºC temps lmao
atp i'm suspecting a pump issue
or bad hotspot location compared to AIO pump

CPU: 270K Plus > No OC
MBO: MSI Pro Z890-A
Cooler: NZXT Kraken Z73 360mm with LGA 1700 bracket

I repasted recently and fixed the pump speed, but... there's no change at all
The temps are reached after 5 minutes on AIDA64 stress test. Room temp about 25-26ºC
Amy one knows if this is normal or something?
or even if is the bracket not working as expected?

Is the plastic sheet removed from the cold-plate ?

sharp sphinx
#

It was a big piece of plastic covering the preapplied thermal paste

sharp sphinx
wild wave
#

They were trying to under-volt to manage thermals

#

I asked them to check for the plastic sheet

#

it was there

#

18 months of overheating problems gone

#

So. . . I had to ask

sharp sphinx
#

Hahaha yes I’m very aware of that type of mistake

#

But I can confirm that there’s not plastic cover

#

Since the pump came with pre applied thermal paste

wild wave
#

There must be a problem somewhere

#

The pump is definitely pumpung?

sharp sphinx
#

I think I’m gonna test with another cooler, I suspect the pump is not doing good contact with the CPU

sharp sphinx
wild wave
#

Air lock ?

sharp sphinx
#

Air lock?

wild wave
#

Radiator above the CPU?

#

The pump can't pump air, so if an air pocket gets to the pump, it stops pumping

sharp sphinx
#

Ah I get it. I think shaking the pump can help with that, right?

wild wave
#

Maybe power the pump and give it a wiggle. any air should end up at the highest point

#

How quickly does the temperature get to 100c ?

sharp sphinx
#

After 2-3 minutes

wild wave
#

360mm and the fans are turning?

sharp sphinx
#

Yes

#

Everything working and no strange sound

wild wave
#

What power is the CPU using?

sharp sphinx
#

250w, the stock configuration for 270K

#

…perhaps the pump is unable to manage the heat?

#

This AIO is 4-5 years old

wild wave
#

That AIO should be good for 250W I'm sure of it

#

Have you been using it for 4-5 y ?

sharp sphinx
#

daily, yeah

wild wave
#

This is a new CPU MB build for it ?

#

Looking at reviews, I see some NZXT software. Does that show pump speed and fan speed OK for you ?

sharp sphinx
#

not in this case

sharp sphinx
wild wave
#

Maybe pump to 100% to see if it helps?

#

It looks like it is doing the things

#

Does the liquid temperature get high too when CPU is at 100c ?

sharp sphinx
#

i never saw it past 40ºC

sharp sphinx
wild wave
#

I've seen tear downs of used AIO cold-plates and some do have gunk build up which restricts the coolant flow over the cold-plates fins.

#

Is it still under warranty?

sharp sphinx
#

i need to check on NZXT page

#

after repasting and cheking the mount bracket again

wild wave
#

I'll look for some reviews of it too

#

Does the mounting pressure seem OK ?

sharp sphinx
#

No, is a little weak

#

and i think is because the mount is not well made

#

or something

#

20 minutes on OCCT Linkpack, a very demanding test

#

At the least is not 100ºC at the moment, like AIDA

wild wave
#

Might be able to increase the mounting pressure with some shorter stand-offs or washers somewhere

sharp sphinx
#

that would mean dismount all mobo?

#

hmm

#

let me check tomorrow when i have the new cooler to test

wild wave
#

This should be accessible without taking the board out.

The case should have a cut-out for access.

sharp sphinx
#

The space in the back is covered by the PSU

#

(MSI MAG PANO 100L PZ for reference)

#

i end up buying the ARCTIC Freezer III Pro 360

#

i mean, dismount the PSU is easier than the mobo

wild wave
#

Hopefully all the issues go away 🤖

sharp sphinx
#

because the pressure was bad

#

and i bet this has the fault

wild wave
#

This happens a lot to me. I have had to modify (FAFO) water cooling set ups more times than I should have needed to. I have saved a lot of spare parts that come in handy.

sharp sphinx
#

Seems like the bracket was not enough

#

Photo not related

#

So

#

The included bracket was absolute trash because there was not enough mount pressure

sharp sphinx
#

so good so far

#

with new AIO

#

So… yeah

#

The old AIO was not enough this time

#

I swear, changing the whole mounting is a nightmare

#

But I can confirm is basically fixed now

sharp sphinx
#

thanks for the help @wild wave
