On the i9 14900k 3080ti msi z790 edge wifi 1000W 48G RAM and 1tssd
Games would keep crashing I contacted Intel and they gave me these solutions.
I tried them and they worked, didn't make my pc "normal" but I could boot up games with an occasional blue screen or discord restarting.
But for some reason when all is good I get on one day and I can't load into valorant or the riot client if I do load in game I crash either before I get in a match or when it's over and the frames are just awful now. I can't play osu for more than 5 minutes and downloading new beatmaps crashes the game. I updated my drivers and did a USB fresh install of windows 10 and still with before downloading drivers and afterwards the issue is the same. Updated my bios too
Games like fortnite I can play but will crash, Minecraft crashed before the solution but better minecraft crashes constantly.
#game crashing.

how's your cooling? Was this a new Windows install or you upgraded an existing system? Do you have XMP enabled? What errors is it giving for the crashes?
Some games don't give errors they just close.
I use windows 10 but everytime I run into some 14th gen problem I realize there's no fixing it so I factory reset and fresh install. I did have xmp enable but on or off or different speeds hasn't made a difference.
Cooling okay and I never let it overheat, I keep an eye on it because I want my parts to be long lasting.
Blue screen errors the ones I remember is like watch dog clock out and page exception not handled or something.
Most of everything says drivers but I've got bios, Intel drivers, gpu drivers motherboard drivers, peripheral drivers. Not sure just how much deeper I can go there
2 sticks
system thread exception not handled is another
how do I do this? Ik bios has been releasing updates for this but this specific setting I cant find
bios default only makes it worse
I have cpu cooling set to intel defaults?
but that does also not work
What are your cpu temperatures?
In the 50s
That’s so odd make sure all the power cables are seated in properly. What peripherals do you have installed?
Superlight v2
Viperv2 pro
Matrix 60% keyboard
Logitech camera
Hyperx microphone
Hyperx headset
Does only having one keyboard and mouse plugged in help?
tried something like that before but it didnt do anything.
doesnt matter anymore tho. i figured the only thing i changed that crashed my pc was updating my bios. i go to downgrade to my old bios and it sucks, i upgrade back and it corrupts my os.
i go to reset everything and do another fresh install of windows. and it bluescreens before I can install it. cpu is officially dead
Are you on the latest bios version?
What speed is your ram?
5200 but with xmp it can reach 8000
i have it off because high speeds are unstable
What model / brand memory?
Trident Z5 RGB series DDR5 memory are the latest G.SKILL flagship memory kits designed for ultra-high extreme performance on next-gen DDR5 platforms built with 12th Gen Intel CoreTM processors and Z690 chipset motherboards. Featuring a sleeker and streamlined aluminum heatspreader design, availab...
Check your ram voltage, make sure it’s 1.35v
Should be under your dram settings
DRAM Voltage setting
set it but didnt change anything
stupid question, if you set bios to default settings, does it improve?
no
ive tried multiple bios settings
can you test swapping components like running that CPU in a different board?
else i would consider an RMA
@regal atlas Have you updated to a recent bios to avoid degrading your cpu?
Go and search in windows under event viewer or reliability history for windows system errors, and track down the blue screen codes
If you are getting errors like CPU_WATCHDOG for example, it might be silicon wear
Also, would highly suggest not adding voltage to vcore as they instructed if the new baseline profile is not in place, in all core workloads like when these cpus ramp up just prior to loading into some games it will subject it to a bit of torture which can lead to these issues
Here's the settings for context
Strongly suggest taking a look at this, and if it is btw worse under these settings, then I would almost immediately jump to considering an RMA
This is by their recommendation, so if it doesn't work, and the blue screen codes point to CPU core stability, it's warranty worthy
We'd have to know whether it is first though, but reading your story gives me fairly big suspicion that it could be
Mmm I should've read some more. Lol.
Well still go to check for the blue screen error codes. Those will point at least in a semi-correct direction to pinpoint the problem
On the latest bios, with the default making things worse, I'm quite suspicious still lol
Run efi memtest overnight
Looking for these
If thats happy run occt
I think MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION, UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP and SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED also fall under this iirc
At least from what I remember on these cpus
All of these error codes are familiar, but i cannot download windows on my pc without the download blue screening
I'm not sure how to set this up
It's different for every motherboard mate you'll have to find the settings in bios
PL2/PL4 and ICCmax are the important ones
