#External display stuck on 120 hz

If been gaming and editing for a while on my laptop now and it went all smooth, but i have bought a 144hz second monitor wich i wanna use as my main. When i plugged in my monitor it said only 120hz and there is no option to change it, i dont thinkj its my cable it should support 1080p 240hz. if anyone knows whats going on here just let me know

what monitor and laptop? How are you connecting the monitor?

Laptop is a Asus Vivobook 14inch Oled, monitor is a AOC 1920 by 1080p monitor 144hz
