Food acquired 😎
Meh
It actually tasted pretty good
Turns out having minimal food health controls leads to them just making whatever tastes nice regardless of how insanely unhealthy it is 🙃
Lmao
Chickfila is one of the healthiest fast foods
doin it to em.
Ah yes, a biscuit - from the italian "bis cuit" meaning "a bloody scone"
still, meat with a savoury scone is neat
Well it did kinda taste a bit like one
But weirdly also like a bun
Idk how to explain it
it'd be interesting to try making it, though idk if it needs bleached flour?
Car by the A66 in the pennines - stopped off after a long trip to drop off some hardware that was impractical to post
Mostly stopped because I wanted to admire the views and couldn't properly while driving 😅
One of these images looks like a stock photo but I promise it’s just iPhone being insanely OP at point and shoot

Don’t forget the computer history museum if you have time
It is on the way back from San Jose/Santa Clara to San Francisco
Oh nice, you got to see the SF-Oakland bay bridge! That's the widest bridge in the world, and the largest self-anchored suspension bridge, it's really cool.
What's that other bridge btw, the red one?
The red one is the Golden Gate Bridge
I should clarify that the golden gate bridge is well-known in the UK too, I realise without that context the joke may be less obvious
That PortLand sticker is a little SUS
Indeed it is
Atlantic Ocean via Tenerife, Canary Islands
Heading to Japan today, will take a while to get there 🙂
😁
enjoy man, I need to get there in the next couple years
Sounds like fun 🙃
I’m jelly
ooh fun
You say JK but that’s all I see 🤣
big jelly here
All this jelly with no peanut butter 😩
what a beautiful day
🥲
I want one.
lol
the raw power in that panda
Lol yea
oh it's an og panda
those look cool af
something about that boxiness
I cant lie I was expecting to see an actual Panda not a car 🙃
Our flight got cancelled so we stayed the night in NYC
The last picture is of Venus from Mt Teide on Tenerife, Canary Islands
I think that top sign in the banksy picture is my favorite sign
thats a cool banksy
Sheeeeeesh
A lot of them here 😛
I need to figure out what to do in Japan with kids. Might go in December
Fire alarm at Manchester Piccadilly
(sound on otherwise it's just a video of my face)
That's soo polite
It's a very british thing because the reason for that message is "to avoid panic"
but also everyone knows what it means
but no-one panics anyway because they know they're not supposed to
everyone just acts as if they don't recognise it

There are few ideas, depending on what your kids are into. I've never been myself but want to go at some point, IE: I've only done surface research on things to do.
@inland obsidian any issues with language? Or can you generally find an English speaker?
Most only speak Japanese so I rely on translator software
I'd practice so much more ahead of going to Japan, but that's cause I actually have an interest in the language long-term. I only know a tiny tiny bit to get by contextually right now, so I'd likely just resort to translator apps which are fine too
Karaoke bars 😛
Just passed London!
Star Alliance livery on my flight back from my folks
Nice. Taking off from a small lake? 😅
raytracing settings turned on high at that airport
lmaooo, I just noticed
just a lot of small and medium sized puddles make it looks like the plane is waterboarding
At least its not the real London
😂
Yooooo
damnnnn, I gotta do that
waow. Carson in NYC.
U should go to poughkeepsie... 🤔
or Malta
(AMD/GF)
next time
Lol yep
Victoria, BC
I love that ferry
Remember watching the paddle wheel churn. Good times.
No. I’m in Canada for vacation
what does it smell like in there? i image stale air
oil
a lot of it 😛
i bet
Awesome, tours of old subs are great. I've got to tour the USS Blueback Submarine it also smelled like Oil/Diesel. 😂 - Sadly this was years ago so no pictures.
Yeah, this was used until sept 2004, our last sub.
Been in a few, from ww2 to 1960s, this is the sub ive been in that has been most recently taken out of active use
Museum closes january 1st so I wanted to go there before then
O.o bummer, It was going on my list of places that might be cool to visit, to see how it was different/the same compared to US subs.
Yeah that's what's rumoured rn anyways
I do wonder how it compares to US diesel subs.
Maybe compares to the Barbel class?
Or the Darter
Just upgraded over time
Now there's something you don't see every day.
The trust in having a flat road.
Driveway is a bit steep, has to be on bags
I'd rock that wrap
Been test driving two cars today that ive been considering
A Fiat Panda from 2010 and a Dacia Sandero from 2013
Also sat in a citroen C1 but wasnt good to be in for me
The Dacia Sandero was in best shape and lowest mileage, and came with both summer and winter tires, but was a bit on the expensive end (50.000 kr), and a bit big. It's been on sale for a year, so I might have some leverage to negotiate a lower price
The Fiat Panda was cheaper (42.500 kr) and smaller, but only had summer tires, and was in worse shape with brakes and an oil leak near engine. I don't think I can trust the reliability of it, so I don't think I will consider it anymore. Might look at other Pandas though, there are plenty.
Looking at some more around that price, a Ford Ka tomorrow for 45.000 kr from 2013
I like the Panda, they’re so cute
Yeah. This one was just in a too poor condition. Looking for others of them
Looked at and tested a Ford Ka from 2013, as mentioned.
Good to drive, good engine, did cost 50.000 after service though and with winter tires. Did have a lot of undercarriage rust and at the engine mounts. Visited a mechanic in my family to have it checked, who though it needed undercarriage treatment or else won't last more than 1-2 years. My father and the seller said it can drive for many years without treatment and that my father had a car with no treatment for 13 years. So rust was issue to one but not an issue to other two. Final price puts it at same cost as the Dacia, but it has half the yearly green tax.
Might check out other Ford Ka if any is in a better condition, but this one might be an option
The Ford Ka has 80.000 km driven and the Dacia has 59.000, so neither have been driven much, and theyre the same age
Dacia sandero
Ford Ka (Same version but not the one I looked at)
Ka is 740 kr/year in tax while sandero is 2080 kr/ yr (105 usd vs 296 usd)
Both at 7133 usd
Man, cars are expensive over there
There's a 2000 toyota corolla for 5500 usd, comes with 2 months warranty
Heard they were pretty reliable and in decent enough shape
The dacia and the panda got sold so no longer options
Also a nissan almera from 2000 for 3600 usd
Price is rough unless very low miles 😬
Problem with anything that old will be parts availability. Lots of things will already be discontinued.
If it's in great shape with low miles, it could last for 300K miles of it's a manual and well maintained
cars have rough pricing here lol
they dont lower much over time
most are around 190.000 to 250.000 km
With a few outliers like a picasso im looking at that has 402.000
Well, things to consider, timing belts around 100k miles, cylinder heads show wear over 120k miles and they will also consume oil at this point
118.060,527 miles is 190.000 km so the lower end of the range
Except diesels, if well maintained those can go 300k miles depending on design
But more suited to long trips
The nissan almera is lower though only 73.321 miles
Lower than the others I looked at except the Sandero
Which I kind of wish I went for before it sold
Yeah, only one problem left with that one.
It's a Nissan 😂
Build quality subpar compared with others usually, but not terrible
But it will have more stuff break over time
But if you're careful with it, not bad
I don't think their drivetrains are bad, usually interior bits
So not a bad choice?
Toyota more reliable, but will need immediate timing service if not done
There's a few Yaris and Aygo in my price range
Looked at a few
And the one Corolla from 2000
Yaris is good, light, easy on components
Nice
Before the bridge. Highway 101 used a ferry.
ive been there..
lunch - Swan Oyster Depot
cash only.. you will love it
Only had enough time to poke around and turn around 😅
tuanies is bored and making dioramas for 1/64 scale cars
First one looked almost real for a sec
WOOOOOHOOOOO
GO TRAINS
Luckily the train I am on also goes where I wana go but it arrives an hour later 😢
Welp, the lighting made a lot of pictures impossible so you get what you get. 😅🤷♂️
Real pity about the lighting, so many good photos missed 😬
lol I like how you left out the "please do not" part
Touching depleted uranium not recommended 😅
Touch any of these devices!
did I trigger the bot again @frozen sonnet?
you've been granted image-spam abilities now, use it wisely 😉
still triggered the spam I thinks
Dyno bot being annoying
Miyajima
Sheeeeeeeesh
Drove 300 miles to spend a few hours swimming in a hot springs in slightly above freezing air temperatures.
Floating on my back, watching the stars, was just what I needed. Well, and a minor workout in the water just to loosen things up.
Got home around midnight, zero regrets.
Also a bunch of kitties wandering around. But wasn't carrying my camera, only took the one picture before leaving. But there was a really cute, fluffy, orange manx.
That one was my favorite.
thats awesome

Yesterday was a good day for a bit of a walk in the rain. Went to a few places I've wanted to visit for a while.
First, the Pulgas Water Temple.
So this is where the connection to Hetch Hetchy was made giving San Francisco it's own water supply.
Long ago, when the water flowed through the ducting rather than pipework, adventurous souls were known to jump in and ride it all the way into the reservoir.
Next door to it, is Filoli, a very nice estate, with some great gardens.
Last but not least, a sweet treat. I've always wanted one fresh and they had flavors I'd never seen before.
Chocolate chip It's It for me.
The missus got pumpkin, didn't know that was a thing.
Not the worst way to spend a day.
Beautiful scenery
The botanical garden of UC Berkeley. It's quite a collection. I tried a variety of vaccinium I'd never seen before. Vaccinium gaultherifolium. Was quite astringent, but I'm going to check out the variety. Never heard of even.
One of my kids for scale of cacti 😂
It looks like some kind of skill game where the challenge to to roll a coin off the top to the tip of the triangle.
Just missing the huge coin catching fountain below
Going to UK in summer
which parts?
Manchester, Wales, maybe scotland if we can make it
U should go down to Swindon and say hi to the Intel UK folks
depending on when you are coming I might even be there to give you a mini tour 🙃
Thatd be cool if I get nearby. Its week 28 to 30
Dont have final route planned yet though
28th July or 28th week of the year?
28th week
Don't touch the water.
It's a Superfund site, extremely toxic
This as far as the suspension on my poor Jetta could go 😂 plus a bit of walking
You would think they would have signs next to water
They do. It's very protected and fenced.
Getting there is not easy or known.
The road was completely destroyed a few years ago, I had an awesome off-road adventure with the adjacent property owners permission 😂
But yeah, cinnabar fragments everywhere too
It's a mercury mine
Was anyways
Road, what road? 😂
Time to buy the land either side of it, rebuild it then plop a fuel station down and a supermarket then sell off the land for profit to build houses on 😎
Too big to post to Discord, I recorded it in 8K, nice view.
I didnt know that existed
Big Sur has a lot of really amazing places, but it's kinda PTSD inducing.
Today, I visited the place I exited the river for the first time since.the incident 😂
It wasn't even on purpose, but ended up at the exact campsite I exited at. Surreal moment.
ohh i bet that freaked u out a lil
Yeah, yeah it did. I turned to my wife and just said "Do you realize where we are?!"
Like she would have any idea 😂 I was shellshocked for a moment
Thats so incredible that you would end up there, glad you appreciated the moment bro
We originally went to go rock hunting, but 1 is still closed so Jade Cove was a no-go
The waterfall was on the way back, as was the campground exit, just wanted to let the kids splash around.
We parked in the middle and hiked over and down the gorge trail and ended up right at that spot
I looked at a map and realized it was the last campgrounds on the river and this was the campsite that I would have seen from the bend, and I still remember seeing my buddy and all of Search and Rescue around that fire, my buddy eating an MRE and laughing.
A bit surreal.
Pick one 😂
Bit of a mix
Hehe, all bubbly
One of the world's only naturally carbonated warm springs.
There's a second warmer spring with a high boron content too, not much carbonation in that one though.
It's potable too (drinkable)
Took a trip out to NV/AZ, stopped at Red Rock Canyon on the way. Sorry about the wobble 😅
8K if you can.
Engine bay.
Just touching grass
Congratulations J. I'm sure it was a struggle.
Thanks Terry, it was. The sun was setting fast and I wanted to share the moment with u guys
Train with a big “I just came from London” sign on the side of it 🙃

Darpa already has something like that.. just not as terrifying
Darpa also has it for medical evacuations
I'd skip over four legs and go straight to a giant ridable millipede like the Cluster Lizard in Lexx
Looks stupid
