Super Mario Bros. 2 | Game Boy Edition
Based on the current speed and pace of development, the estimated release date of the Demo Build is... December 26th onwards (Between December 26th and January 5th).
To avoid it looking so bad, I remade the Mario character on the map in a larger size, SMB3 style
SMB.2 Archives | Canceled
Super Mario Bros. 2 | Game Boy Edition
Before Vs After
(this new design will be in the beta)
??? explain to me
you can have a maximum of 10 sprites in a row. each sprite is 8 pixels wide and can have three colors. you can stack these, but that doesn't decrease the sprites in a row
o
Well, it'll stay true to the original; SMB2 also had sprite flickering from time to time, haha
This shit is boutta be fire 😼

@cunning bone!
Thank you so much for contributing to our project!
Tonight I'm going to work with boost ⚡⚡
Wowza
need any help with sprites?
No, my biggest problem right now is the script of enemies
Otherwise, I think everything is ready
Do you still need music? I'm still working on my SMB2DX and I made some songs for it in the process. The two tracks I made so far are the character select and overworld themes.
Overworld may need some tweaking as some notes may be incorrect, it doesn't properly loop (it eventually goes back to the intro), and its triangle sounds more like SMBDX. The note lengths are also either too long/too short depending on the instrument.
Don't you think it would be better if we combined the two projects?
not necessarily, since we're both going different directions. Mine's just a glorified tech demo basically.
I feel like if we wanted to assemble a team and work on an actual port then SMB3 would be the perfect game for that
I was thinking about doing a third one after the second, but I'm actually more excited to do this one, so how about we do it then?
Actually, I was playing it at that exact moment, lol
Figuring out most things for SMB3 would be way easier because its mechanics are closer to smb1 which has been remade in gb studio before so its more likely to be remade if that makes sense
yeah, I just think the biggest problem is memory; there are too many different enemies and too many levels
90 levels and more than 40 enemies
True
the GBC cant handle SMB3?
mario land 2 exists and it has a lot of original bosses
It only has 32 levels and a small soundtrack
Mario 3 has more than twice as many levels, more enemies, more power-ups, and more soundtracks
wait SMB3 has more musics???
pretty sure mario land 2 has more enemies
at least I remember more of them from SML2 since they are unique
