i spend my time drawing ship art and now i'm making a game for myself for fun.

i'm not used to do pixel art so it might look a bit terrible and i don't know programing, so i will do simple gameplay that the base engine + plugins allow me to do .

this game is mainly fannart of a hat in time, but its a self insert ship thing, so don't expect canon stuff here.

i'm mostly making assets for now.

mhh i am looking to color the background a bit but the way i did my trees its making it quite complicated

because i used the dark green a lot and the trees on the front are not lined up with the grid, so to patch it up i would need to use a lot of actors and that wouldn't be the best

for dialogue cutscenes , faces are sprites, i just left medo's eyes as the backround for now so i could use more gradient in her eyes, might change it a bit depending on how i do expressions

Oh , I think I found a way (this will also be a note for myself)
If I leave the background area under the eyes in just the lightest color then I just have to do that color as transparent in my sprite and then rearrange my palette for that sprite.
It should compensate the 4th color

This way I should be able to add blink and more eyes shapes if needed

so, i did the face sprite fix, the eyes are now a sprite and no more backround,

True, (I was only imagining blinking)

Don't get me wrong try everything, but I want to warn you / make you aware. That lines of script in any given spot, say the int of the scene for instance, is limited. After so many actions (and it's not many) it will just ignore everything else.

So my warning is with script long like what that level of animated cutscenes can make is

Write a line or two and test.

Don't wanna be sitting with a full script and have to retroactivly delete a line/ test, delete a line / test - untill it works again

(And I'm talking after like 15-20 lines of code)

The cutscenes are scenes by themselves, so maybe I could have multiple event in one scene, and switch to another one if it's too much

Start the cut scene in int then switch to an actor calling a side scrip 🤔

I don't know if I will ever finish lol, I struggle adding any gameplay (I had tried doing a sort of puzzle , it's pretty terrible :'3
I'm just bad at designing gameplay
I think it will mostly be a sort of visual novel, I mostly just wanna have fun drawing the characters and doing a little story

The house is like a dead tree, in hat in time, it's super tall and it's a challenge to climb it, I could only draw the bottom here, since I'm doing a side scrolling map

You should get your work out there! (in finished works)

It's good there is another emulator on that device because the base game boy emulator completely breaks my game , but the gambatte one runs it fine

I have an actual game boy color to play the cartridge but that thing was really cute I didn't resist
