Hey there is a gameplay mechanic that I don't quite understand.
You can modify prices of individual items on the menu, and there is little humanoids cards under it. It seems having low price attract customers from one type of foods/drinks to another but I don't fully understand how.

If someone can explain it to me a little better

You can mouse over the little humanoid cards to see a breakdown of what they think about the menu items.

#

What they think of the menu items is determined by the price and the flavour of the thing you're selling.

#

If this combined approval rating is much higher for one item compared to another, they will only ever buy the one they like better.

#

Flavour and price are complicated, but the gist of it is that every item has a base quality and a flavour profile.

#

For example, quickblossom is very sweet, and it has a base quality of one star.

#

For a halfling, who really likes sweet things, quickblossom is just one star.

#

For a human, who only likes sweetness up to a point, the flavour is actually lower than one star, because the flavour profile affects it negatively.

#

How much someone likes the price also depends on the item.

#

This is because the price rating depends on the price relative to an 'ok-price', which is different for each item for each type of patron.

#

For instance, a one star human is willing to pay more for Stellar Aura than for Howse Brew.

#

So at the same price, Stellar Aura will have a higher price rating than Howse Brew.

#

The best way to handle prices, IMO, is to pick the item which has the highest ok-price for your main customer groups.

#

You can check which one this is by comparing the mouseovers,

#

(This would be druids foot for 1 star halflings, for example)

#

And then setting the price according to what approval rating you want.
