losing speed after successfully doing a drift boost on mega mall

I seem to be losing speed after successfully doing a drift boost in the second carpark on the mega mall track going up the ramps

when you end the drift, it takes the to speed you were driving over the last 1/2 second, and uses that as the basis for your new top speed in the boost. so if you slow down during a drift and then end the drift, you can end up with a slower speed than you entered the drift (but still faster than the car's natural top speed)

take your turns more efficiently, for one, try not to turn too sharp while drifting, you will certainly lose more speed, just let the car drift while your boost is active and turn right or left when needed
