It doesn't happen often and I haven't noticed anything specific triggering it- the default control scheme for controllers works great on deck, but occasionally the game decides the deck has a mouse and keyboard. I haven't noticed this in other games with controller support so I don't think it's the deck being weird, but like I said, I haven't seen anything specific trigger it in the game either, so who knows. (I tagged this as windows but I am running steamos and proton, not windows, on the deck)
#Steam deck control scheme switches between desktop and controller controls

When this occurs, what specifically happens?
the on screen UI changes to the keyboard prompts (spacebar to grow bigger, arrow keys to move, ect), and the controller buttons (abxy) stop working. at least one of the times I could still move and navigate menus with the joysticks.
it's kinda like if you plugged a controller into a computer and used the keyboard and controller simultaneously if that makes any sense
I'll try to record it the next time it happens
huh. strange.... thanks for the detailed info
that is definitely what happens on PC when the game detects input is coming from a keyboard or mouse.
perhaps you were/are using a Steam Input configuration that includes injecting some mouse or keyboard events?
I've just been using the default configuration, which I think is essentially just an xbox controller
I think I've also just seen something similar
After I touched the touch screen on the deck in the file import area of the car customizer, I backed out and now it keeps thinking there's a keyboard and I can't control the game with a controller properly anymore
should I make my own forum post for this?
like it'll let me use the controller but as soon as I let go of something like an analogue stick it'll just default to having nothing pressed
oh... touching the touch screen again outside the menu fixed it
weird
oh interesting, I tried all sorts of button combos to trigger it but I didn't think of the screen
sounds like the same issue to me
Ok so it’s touch-screen related. I will do some testing!
I got it on video
so I opened the pause menu, used the touch screen so the cursor came up, then suspended the game with the power button.
when I woke it back up it was like this
when I press a button it briefly changes the UI to the normal deck ui but doesn't register the button press, then when I release the button it goes back to the normal desktop ui
I believe this is fixed in the latest steam version, can someone with a steam deck who could reproduce this issue in the past let me know if they can still reproduce it?
