FROM Software is the worst about this, their games have extremely basic stories and vague + inconsistent item descriptions that they don't have to explain because people will string them together and claim it's perfect.

Luckily that's not what Warframe is doing.

Warframe's story is luckily fairly straightforward. We know the big names, we know what happens.

What we don't have is history, and explanations for how things we see in the story work.

Which DE isn't likely to explain because the whole reason people do lore is so that they don't have to write story or official explanations for why certain things happen.

The thing I like about From's approach is it lets you build your own story around your character, making up what you believe their motivations and conclusions are. I don't think every game should do it, but it's fun exploring and wondering how things came to be the way they are.

Warframe's story confusion comes from it being a long-running live service, so the details get changed over time based on the writer's feelings, or players' opinions

One of the big issues I have with Warframe is a lack of revision they hardly ever look back at lore pieces they created and expand upon them like unum

Okay, mostly finished my coffee and got one, though this isn't really a long-running change after time:

It's established that Sentients lose the ability to procreate after traveling though the Void. It's made into kind of a big deal. But during the Ropalolyst fight Natah specifically says she was born after the journey. Now, I've argued before that Natah's memories aren't exactly reliable, so there's wiggle room here (but that's how I'd write things too in a project like this-- wiggle room to arrange for future additions and changes).

Ultimately, if it's more interesting and fun and opens up more story, that's the route taken. I'm not complaining about it.

As a smaller, stupider thing, Warframes can keep going in open space so why should they need life support in, say, Corpus ships? It's because Archwing and Survival are two mission types that can be played, and I don't really need a justification for this, but there you go.

That's a retroactive change to the story. I imagine it was put in to introduce the Entrai family history a bit earlier in the story so that when the name comes up again later it's not totally out of left field. But that's what I mean about long-running games making changes in order to keep going.

Also maybe related to this conversation but maybe not, very early in game the Lotus has this to say: "This outpost belongs to the Corpus, a secretive, but extremely powerful Merchant Cult, known to be working with the Grineer."

Are the Corpus secretive? What are they being secretive about? Not their existence, since they have huge staked out territories and ships and basically own Venus.
