New War, Ballas kills the operator/cuts Lotus's hand. Throws it into the void. Lotus's hand lands in Duviri where the Drifter is getting executed.
The Drifter at this point is narratively placed at the waking point of the Operator's Warframe. As the Drifter's story resolves in Duviri, it meets up with the deal being made.
Which is why I'd suspect Bombast being the deal maker. He's pushing the Drifter in a sense towards the deal being made. A sorta loop, Event A causes Event B causes Event C causes Event A.

Many Tenno are regarded as truly dead by the Lotus during quests which is important since she knows the Operators and Warframes are different things. Then as well Rell actually died so they're very much not immortal

The situation with the Paracesis is very very odd. I don't think we can make any conclusions on it until Duviri explains what happened
