While the incident was happening the player character (you) meets the Man in the Wall and is offered a deal which to this day we still don't know the terms of the Man in the Wall says to us “I can save them all of them you just have to want it” which we accept gaining powers which goes to all the children on the ship saving us in one timeline but there is another timeline where us the player chatchter took the deal and wasn't saved.

In this other timeline, it created a split Drifter while emotional because everyone except them got saved read the book as is instructed but due to being in the Void was emotional and Conceptual Embodiment did what it does best and made Duviri real Drifter now in the Void with the Zariman plugging a hole between Duviri and realspace Operator saved and Drifter in Duviri.
