The Burston Prime and it's incarnon sounds a lot like what you're looking for. Granted you have to suffer through SP Circuit for the Incarnon Adapter, but generally it's a really fun weapon that has some really good crit and status build options. I have two builds on my Burston, one of them crit and the other status and they use mostly the same mods and forma and are both completely Steel Path viable and I have yet to find a primary or secondary weapon that I like to use more than my Burston.
