Investing is fine. But if you can afford to get the prime, you might as well do that + farm the base variant for subsume. Prime variants are significantly easier to get, higher base stats, 1 more free polarity, and cool designs. Other than that, there's really no big difference in the gameplay except for some very specific things like hitting break points due to base stat difference.

For weapons, Prime variants having higher base stats and or if the weapon has a unique effect is preferred. There are also some specific cases where Riven Disposition dictates which variant of the weapon is better.

tbh, long-term, it can be better to just pick up the prime and treat that as the "main" one to invest in

primes can often be easier to get too than the normal counterparts

Look at Equinox, NINE seperate items needed... Prime is just the standard four.

If you can’t wait, and have a decent tanky or healer frame, you should be able to solo farm on the Mars node, through round 4+. If you have your weapons decently modded, succeeding on all the defenses, per round, shouldn’t be too difficult to solo, either.

i think i recall seeing smthn where a dude was going through stuff prty decent level stuff with like some of the early game "begginer" mods like base intensify and stuff so odds are investing in some mods to beef up your frame and weapons will go a long way

that will progress you to better areas to get relics as well as enable you to get better mods and new frames and weapons

once you get the better mods, weapons, and frames, it makes grinding out those relics for prime parts a lot easier

theres actually a really good bow you can get from the story (new war) and if you dont know what story quest that is then id reccomend progressing the story more. (do note that from what i recall new war is a 6-8 hour ish quest give or take depending on how much time you want to spend exploring and so on)

so for a frame like volt it would make his speed last longer (not the only thing it effects for volt but you get the idea), for mag it would make her bubbles last longer, and for excal it makes his 4 drain less energy and the debuff from his 2 last longer

with the point in the game your at plat (while its ideal to have tons of always) is likely going to not be easy to come by as the stuff thats worth the most is stuff that people dont want to farm or are rare. especially early on melees tend to be the strongest however as you get galvanized mods, learn more about modding, and elements and what elements are good it starts making things a lot better.

Something worth noting is that while prime stuff tends to have better stats than their non-prime counterparts it doesnt mean that the non-prime stuff is immediately worthless.

Stuff like adversary weapons (kuva, tenent, and coda) all tend to be quite good weapons. Additionally a LOT of prime weapons are good for an entirely different reason than being a prime weapon. its because there are things called incarnons which you unlock later into the game that basically can 180 weapons and give them important buffs.

If you worried about not being strong enough I would reccomend getting someone to help you get a kuva litch and help you defeat them as that will likely get you a good weapon that can be quite strong

notably though weapons are only as good as the mods you put on them and having a "good weapon" or a "prime weapon" likely wont make it much better than a "bad/ non-prime" weapon thats built.

getting the mods for weapons and frames can be quite endo intensive and means that its not going to be uncommon for you to not have maxed out mods. Additionally its also worth noting that warframe is NOT a sprint; its a marathon. just because you can rush infront of everyone in a marathon doesnt mean that your going to have the best stuff. take your time, do the quests, ask for help for modding and for where to farm things and work your way to the end at a pace your comfertable with

realistically your not gona be doing the end game stuff and farming plat all day long to buy all the things you want all day long within the first few days to week(s) as that takes a lot of time and quite often a lot of the people who do that have been playing the game significantly longer, and while technically you could, realistically your going to burn yourself out and end up disliking the game more than anything

another thing as far as warframes and if its worth formaing/putting a reactor in them. It is 100% a person to person thing and im going to be honest, if you find a frame you enjoy at the start its (in my opinion) worth putting atleast a reactor in them to make it more enjoyable early on. There are reasons as to not such as prime frames existing and a sense of wasting materials however im of the opinion that it can make modding a frame at the start a lot easier and less restrictive
(i probably would say to just pick 1 then save the materials for prime frames to not waste materials but again person to person)

stat differences really, prime weapons typically have stat increases and similarly warfames have stat increases such as health armour maximum energy (notably though ability are effectively the exact same) there are a few things that can have specific break points that get met from primes and not base versions however especially early on those break points are not really important

So here's my two cents:

If you feel like you are hurting for damage, I'd say invest in your frames. The three starter frames can carry you to endgame comfortably if you focus on their mods for health and shields and really utilize their abilities. I would also suggest looking into gear and companions. If you're at Deimos, I recommend working standing there to get a reliable companion. The animal companions I find personally to be more dynamic and powerful then the sentinel/static ones.

Even early-game mods can add a bunch of power to your equipment. I recommend focus less on raw damage from weapon mods, and see what you can use to increase status chance or critical chance.

Don't feel restricted or upset if you lack access to Primes and such. Not everything even has a Prime equivalent, and some weapons have variations aside from Primes. Warframe really encourages.experimenting with multiple things and keeping a varied arsenal.

Also, learn status weaknesses and use them. It is a noticable edge

also as far as spending a reactor to increase standing, it is something you will likely have to do eventually if you intend to fully unlock syndicates however aside from not being able to rank up there isnt an immediate downside of waiting to instead spend it on a weapon or frame

just wanting to add onto this with the base frames, i forget where but i know ive seen that there was someone giving intro to steel path (basically hardmode) for the 3 starter frames with relatively easily accesable mods such as base intensify, continuity, flow, and streamline. So while corrupted mods are quite nice for maximizing the capabilities of stuff they are by no means needed. Weapons I would argue that galvanized mods are very important and are worth farming however atleast for some like the multishot galvanized mods you could technically get away with the non-galvanized version and realistically have good damage

I'm in agreement there with most of that. I would not argue as much for the gal mods given that base versions exist (looking at multishot ones specifically). I'm COMPLETELY in agreement that base frames are more then enough, I'm from before Lavos prime dropped and my base Lavos has never left me. Same with my starter Mag.

was mostly thinking about gundition overload mods and stuff like galv steel and galv reflex not really having great 1:1s in what they give with gundition overload being quite important on some builds due to being multiplicitive with base damage, galv steel for effectively combining crit chance and crit damage into 1 mod, and galv reflex for glaives/heavy attack spam if you dont have tennokai mods

multishot galv mods are not super important as their non galv counterparts while lower highs are still prty good and the galv cross hairs/scope being able to be subbed for corrupt mods for a good portion of the game, galv elementalist being able to be subbed for base melee elementalist, and galv acceleration being able to be replaced or not used for a good portion of the game as well

Cool names/names that sound like they could be the name of an actual warframe weapon, such as the weapons I named today Afterlife Prime (scythe) and Vulcan Respiro (firey exploding shotgun).
