the way gauss works is that using heat or cold sunder while the enemy is afflicted with heat or cold will cause gauss to collapse all the existing stacks to explode at once into a blast

you proc heat a bunch (either with sunder itself or a primer if you want to single target giga nuke) and collapse them all with cold

I like to go Magnetic on most, as it's a pretty neutral element unless it's going to be used for a specific build then I change accordingly. Can always elemental vice it in the future if you change your mind.
