A lot of that is down to the undercroft sequences you get. 5min survival is 5min. Alchemy takes a long time when people just kill things instead of throwing charges. Extractors take a while.

Took me around 50-60 runs of the Murex to get all the parts for Shedu. If you go the Murex route, you want to only kill the sentients that drop its parts until you have no other choice. 20 dead sentients stops the spawning on the Murex.
