Syndicate weapons all have gimmicks. After so much affinity is gained they do a radial explosion around the player that procs a status effect and on top of that they can also do something else.

Torid just requires far less aim (no headshots, just have to shoot the body) for somewhat similar effect
Moment something is immune to status or has a status cap it stops being…good
