Aside from it being able to revive you? It’s got a precept that inflicts 5 slash procs at 150% damage. That goes well with the Hunter Recovery mod, which heals you for 30% companion damage. Recovery also adds 50% companion damage to enemies with slash procs

with resupply it forces splash status on the blast, but secondary encumber works only if you're not hitting any units
