Kinetic Plating is Gauss' 2nd ability
Gives you Damage Reduction against physical damage(Impact, Slash and Puncture) and Heat and Cold and gives back energy. This covers basically most sources of enemy damage. It does some other things too but they are not that important (like give 100% follow through to melee weapons). The Damage Reduction reaches 100% during Redline so you don't have to mod for it to be good.

Redline is Gauss' most prominent feature. Gives you a hell ton of buffs (Attack Speed, Fire Rate, Reload Speed) and you can charge the battery over 80%. While the battery is above 80% during redline a % counter will pop up. When that counter reaches 100%, the battery drain will cease (it is otherwise drained when Kinetic Plating takes damage and when Redline is active)
It also has some added effects for Thermal Sunder specifically but it becomes pretty complicated

Mods like Serration and arcanes like Arachne and Merciless. Just modded damage in general, not elemental damage mods.
It will be affected by Elementalist's Status Damage increase and faction mods..
But the modded blast damage doesn't count (only indirectly because of the status chance weighting)
