If you were hired to write a Transformers G1 reboot, What changes would you make?

-A more violent and wise Optimus(So Bayverse Optimus Prime is not alone)

-As less human characters as possible(cuz why not?)

-possibly add some tf osts to some final battles/cool fights/etc so there is more tension. This includes "The touch" ost.
-Ocasional Male-female only romance (other kinds of romances will result in a less cool series)
-No Earthspark kind of stuff (same reason as the up one)
-Great one liners and speaches
-No plot armor
-ocasional jokes to detensionate the atmosfear in some ocasions (ex: Bayverse)
-Maybe add another season before the first G1 season,that would take place in the era of the Primes,making up the lore and conecting itself with the actual G1 series.
-HD textures fr
-Interconecting it with beast wars like in Wfo series.
-Add more seasons/make the seasons last longer in order for the action to happen.
-Add characters from all continuites as much as possible.

Also, if you’re trying for less humans in the show, then why try and make only male-female romances? Given the bad ratio of male to female bots usually, it means that female bots would end up more forced into the role of love interest

With less humans in the series, then there should be less of an idea of human genders and how those genders have romances to influence them. Even with human influence, given the make/female bot ratio, there was already likely plenty of MLM bot romance since there wasn’t an idea of a gender division

So, even without the homophobia, bots having more straight relationships than queer ones doesn’t make sense

If i were to reboot G1, I’d lean a bit heavier into the tone of the G1 movie. One of the few changes I would make is to put a greater emphasis on the human ensemble cast, sort of akin to what prime did, mostly because transformers NEEDS human surrogates for the audience to relate to, especially when a lot of the bots are all lacking in the personality department. That being said, I would put a greater emphasis on fleshing out the cybertronian cast to make them all relatable as well. The animation would either be done by Sunrise, Khara, Production I.G., or Trigger. The show would still be targeted at a family audience but still will not shy away from eliminating main characters from the story as it progresses (including human audience surrogates as well).

The plot would be a combination between the movie and the show with a little bit of Armada sprinkled in, with the transformers arriving to earth, Autobots fighting to stop the Decepticons, both factions finding out about Unicron, and both Autobots and Decepticons trying to work together to stop Unicron, who in this version, doesn’t speak much until he wakes up. It isn’t that he can’t but he is unaware of what is happening around him because, as he is in his planet form, he’s kind of on autopilot, eating planets to keep himself alive. He’s sentient and highly intelligent as he’s sort of a god but he is in a vulnerable state as Primus sealed him away in a planet roaming the nebulas for an eternity. It isn’t until Megatron learns about Unicron that Unicron is awoken when Megatron arrogantly tries to awaken him to do his bidding, which backfires on him as Unicron rips him to atoms and reformats him into Galvatron, forcing him to become one of his legion. When the Decepticons learn about Megatron’s disappearance, their ranks fall into disarray as nobody can agree on who is in charge from that point forward. Some Decepticons realize that their only shot at survival is to team up with the Autobots to destroy Unicron, while the other dissidents blindly flock to Galvatron’s aide, not realizing that he is being used as an instrument of Unicron. I would really play into the lovecraftian horror of an entity just kind of drifting through space, devouring anything and anyone who gets in its way. Unicron is just sort of an inevitability in this version.

Another major change I would make is that instead of Hot Rod giving Megatron an opening, leading to Optimus Prime’s demise, in this version, Optimus Prime fights Galvatron one on one and loses. Before he dies, the Matrix of Leadership chooses Prime’s successor who turns out to be a young, naive Hot Rod, who spends the rest of the series learning to be a good leader and rise to the occasion.
