#GPU crash when gaming with Microsoft Edge/YouTubeMusic in background (Windows 11)

Whenever I play a game on Windows 11 and keep a browser (Edge) open in the background with YouTube Music or a video running, my GPU suddenly hangs. The whole system starts stuttering badly until I press Win+Ctrl+Shift+B, which resets the graphics driver and temporarily fixes it, but if I don’t close the browser within a certain period of time, the same thing happens.
Specs:

Windows 11 25H2

NVIDIA RTX 5070

Ryzen 7 7700

Latest Game Ready driver 596.49 (It was the same on the older driver as well)

Okay, this is obviously not a solution to your problem, but why would you ever use edge?

I have had a very similar problem, but i don't use edge. I usually have Firefox open though, however I don't know if it is linked to Firefox. Also win 11. Nvidia RTX 5070.
It started occurring a about 3 weeks ago. I believe it is BAR related. Typically it would never occur in-game, but randomly either in lobby or after a game i would get a brief black screen, then basically a nearly frozen PC (long pause punctuated by a 1/2 second ability to do something and repeat), but smooth mouse movement. dragging or resizing a window would take about 3-4 seconds. Sound unaffected. Problem could be temporarily fixed with the display driver reset as per OP.
I used the Nvidia MPO disable reg fix, which seemed to resolve the matter, however this week it actually did it for the first time in-game (while watching a replay), so I am not sure why it has returned although BAR updated immediately beforehand.

Huh, okay. Are you using Edge with acceleration disabled, maybe?

Later I will try the regular Chrome for testing and will report whether the problem has disappeared or not.
