Fun only points betting system for spectators. Bets placed by typing into spectator chat "!bet <amount> <team>"

!bet 100 team1

  • Only the first !bet command is accepted per spectator so no changing sides or modifying bets.

  • Bets only accepted during commander placement and final 3 second countdown before the match begins.

  • Everyone starts with 1000 betting points and weekly reset to 100 if at 0 points when reset function runs.

  • If match ends without a winner all bets are voided.

  • Winning payout is double your bet amount.

  • Losing is the amount of your bet.

  • Attempt to bet more than you have results in betting all your points.

  • Total bet points are shown in the player list for spectators only.

  • Spectators with active bets have a 1 or 2 (or red or blue dot) beside their name indicating which team they've bet on.

I disagree with this as i felt like it will promote a lot more toxic environment. You do realize how toxic most spectator is in spec chat and how most shit talk the players playing the game all the time? Not only in spec chat but also in all chat (if you don't, try to watch lots of replays, especially the op lobby)

Imagine with this betting system and they will go a lot crazy by disrespecting the opposing team alot more

Sports betting in general is a pretty f'ed concept for dozens of reasons, applying that to games and extending its normalcy even there is just a wild concept lol

Payout rate should be how much you bet * (100/win predict%)

if you bet 100 on the team with 25% chance to win you get
100 * (100/25) = 400

if you bet 100 on the team with 75% chance to win you get
100 * (100/75) = 133.33

or maybe disallow betting on game that are too unfair..? which is most of them 😒

This doesn't have to be official btw, you can just make a widget. Maybe that's how you get people to enable custom widgets in games.

I could see this increasing instances of spectator cheating. Or instances of spectators disclosing info in spectator chat in high stakes games.
