The game already comes with the headless server installed and it uses it when playing singleplayer anyway. So that could be extended to host it on the lan or the internet for a short time. When using LAN mode the game could also use a different user system that does not require a login with the master server.

There actually is. You can easily set it up locally. It got talked about in #⛓️|teiserver-spads a few days ago

To access development channels, go to id:customize, grab the :wrench: Development Role, then the entire category of Development channels that you currently see as No Access will become visible to you.

Please be respectful of discussions happening in there - keep bug reports in https://discord.com/channels/549281623154229250/1047080297042280518 and suggestions in https://discord.com/channels/549281623154229250/1047081727291559986. Make sure to read anything in those channels' pins, if related, as they often answer questions people ask repeatedly.

I see so many posts on this, and I recently tried SPADS and BAR-chubby and got some perl errors, likely running different stack... which... bar is in an app-image and seems much more solid.. but not here.. :<
Which seems odd as the base-game can run it solo player and seems to be the same everything of multiplayer.
It seems crazy a direct-IP connection couldn't be setup... especially when this is also happening xD
