Hi, I don't know if this is a good idea because I haven't actually played a real match in this game yet (though I have played some BroodWar and now SP SupCom, and watched some Volshok vods and OmegaSeries matches), but I wanted to share it:
I posit that sometimes you just want to automatically send units to the enemies straight out of the factory that you set to repeat. Let's say you want to run pawns at your opponents.
Yet when you do this, the units just trickle in one by one (at production cadence), easy to pick off for the enemy defense as they only have to deal with 1 unit at a time.
That is not good. In the majority of cases you'd get a better engagement if you group them first and then attack as a lump of units.
So let's have a widget to do that:
You can define two or more consecutive waypoints out of your factory like normal, but then you can set it to group the units at the first waypoint for a while before moving to the second waypoint as a group.
Moving on could be triggered by various settings, like after X amount of time (e.g. move out every minute), or after X number of units have arrived at the waypoint (or X amount of BP, or X build cycles of your repeating factory...). Perhaps you could set multiple such triggers and the first that hits causes the group to move out. Moving out would ofc reset the counter/trigger for the next group.
Naturally this only makes sense for multiple waypoints, the units need a place to move to after grouping up. Or I guess you could tell them to group up straight next to the factory? 🤔 Or you could define a general grouping zone somewhere, e.g. a broad strip somewhere behind the frontline and if units move there while under their factory move command, they must first wait for a group to form and some trigger to fire (which may also allow multiple factories/players for coordinated attacks?).
See also attached a very fancy sketch.
