I think moderating an old school StarCraft 2 legend with like a five day suspension on their first couple days of the game demonstrates the complete lack of common sense the moderation team has and highlights, once again, how moderation is a big reason that this game is failing to create a consistent player base of skilled players.
At any point a moderator could have just DM’d him and explained how certain things in this game are inappropriate and against CoC. I even thought that there was a “warn first” policy that was implemented (guess not) but yeah.
Moderation has been a constant gripe of players since the beginning and despite the few school yard snitches that actually enjoy complete suppression of certain words because “muh feelings”, it’s mostly used as a bludgeoning tool to target people you don’t like.
If only the team focused on making tools to reduce the amount of moderation reports, like chat filters and practical mute functions, instead of implementing completely useless game mechanics like vehicles rolling up the side of mountains (nobody asked for).
It’ll be interesting to see if Chris Loranger bothers coming back to the game at all or just moves onto the next game while he’s completely banned from even logging online to enjoy a game he seemed to be picking up rapidly.
