When producing a unit, sometimes you assign it to a group during production, in order to micro it in a certain way right from the start.

Unfortunately, the unit gets assigned to its type's auto-group when it steps out of the factory (with all the auto-group settings turned On)

Proposed solution: if a unit is manually assigned to a control group during production, skip the auto-group assignment.

Override Auto-group if unit manually assigned to a group during production

In addition to that, I think there should be some big button somewhere which would either disable all autogroups for the rest of the match or go to preset number 2. The problem is similar with the one described above: sometimes the autogroups don't make sense anymore, for example when playing Isidis Crack, you don't want all of your tanks in group 1 you want half of them in group 2 on the other side of canyon.

I think the problem is that the auto-group is only assigned after production is finished. Overriding what you assigned manually to that point. Maybe autogroups should be assigned already when production starts so it won't interfere when assigning manually later

That would mean unfinished units would end up in auto groups, is that really wanted?

Alternative is checking if an unit is already in a manually set control group before adding it to auto group

Checking for manual group assignment is the only way, since there is a setting that only adds units to autogroups when they reach their rally point. The solution will need to ensure that this delayed assignment doesn't override the manual override.

is there anything that speaks against this?
