There are definitely reasons why they dont, whether they are good or not is up for debate.

#

I imagine air dying over existing structures and wreck landing on them would behave weirdly.

Landed aircraft should at the very least. They just kinda vanish into smoke right now, even dragons.

I kinda get it and I mostly agree
But at the same time I feel like this would mean the effectiveness of AA would need to be reduced, because you would be handing metal to the enemy team every time you tried to exert air power, since air units can penetrate deeper into enemy lines than slower land based units can

You have effectively zero chance of ever getting reclaim that is behind enemy lines back, and the reclaim mechanic exists to make it meaningful to hold onto land after you vanquish enemy units. This sort of thing goes out the window when we are talking about air units striking behind enemy lines; its no longer metal that can be fought over, its metal being handed straight to the enemy base

Honestly i would like to see it as modoption first for testing purposes

clyret made dragon to defend marauder rush during strait tourney, it worked pretty well :p

In the same way that john Cleese told

heavy gunships are ok

i think like dragons + transport with 6-10 flak truck is a potent combo
or flak surrounded by t2 walls..

dragons punish weakness and mistake, and their good counter can be denied by diligently bringing aa

Doesn't AA kill them a lot slower compared to fighters?

feral vale
#

ehhhh
not much slower. fighters only have a couple hundred hp whereas wasps (cortex t2 gunship) for example have something north of 1k

Fighters are vastly more cost effective at taking out Dragons than flak. Nighthawks do 633 dps for 105m/3700e, while T2 flak does 625dps for 850m/14,000e. Equal cost of Nighthawks as a single dragon will kill that Dragon in under a second. And Dragons can't shoot air at all, that's why Dragons tend to only be used defensively anyways, because by the time you can afford to make them, the other side will have fighters out and shred them down very quickly if they go anywhere that doesn't have good AA coverage to keep enemy fighters back. If they dropped reclaim that would make them used more defensively and even less offensively and I'm not sure that sounds like a good change.

Also in that same game Clyret used Shivas and they got EMP'd by Thors and took a beating. Sometimes it seems he uses good methods just to gain an eco advantage so he can meme a bit. Not that I see anything wrong with that really, just that you have to consider whether the play was actually what created the advantage or what he did once he already had the advantage before using his name as credence for his play. They do work reasonably well defensively though and it allows you to repair them and have them gain experience, but that's usually only when the enemy is actually pushing into you as if you try to use them on the enemy's guarded front, they're likely to get picked off by AA before they can make it back home alive.

dragons definitely need an extra little something. their current only real value is punching through thick flak walls to deliver a crucial blow to an afus farm, and we're talking really really late game
@sinful shuttle oh, I mean yeah for sure. dragons have asstons of hp compared to fighters

Just wish they dealt more damage

Actually, using stats on website are pretty deceptive because they're so incomplete/misleading

#

fighters DPS shows as 800 in game, but base damage is one 24 damage shot per second, but it does wildly different amounts based on the target. Dragon is VTOL, so that's 20.83x24=500dps against Dragons, which have 16700 health, so 34 shots to kill one.

#

(website shows their DPS as 633 and doesn't give any details)

#

I'm curious why they all have to have 'indestructible' defined to 0% for them as well, as if there is something indestructible than can be destroyed by some weapon without that statement or it's a totally useless modifier showing up on units

#

seems Dgun doesn't have that modifier, guess it's soley for that possibly

#

Also, I remember in TA vamps could shoot ground, but I didn't think Nighthawks could, but their description says 'a2a/a2g' in it, but it doesn't actually shoot ground units I don't think. Seems like an incorrect weapon description.

#

And they easily kill each other in 1 shot, regardless of how much XP they've got, as they massively overkill themselves with that 3333% fighter modifier. And takes just 3 shots to kill a Hailstorm bomber.
