Suggestion to add extra setting to lobby "Global warming". The more energy is being produced, the higher water level is.

Some extra settings to go with it.
Max water level = 0.7 map max height (so no need to manually input)
Max water change per 10 sec =2 (so no sudden spike change, due to energy production)
EP= global energy production per sec
Extra water level = (EP/EP^02/50)-5 (example formula).

Result of calculations
EP Water level
500 -2.11
1000 0.02
2000 3.75
3000 7.10
4000 10.23
5000 13.21
10000 26.70
20000 50.19
30000 71.34
50000 109.87

There is definitely a better formula for this, but as start for discussion and feasibility of such feature, it is good enough. Needs inverse exponential formula, due to exponential economies.

Not sure if rising water destroys buildings, if yes, nature will heal itself by destroying those pesky AFUS and lowering water level down.
Sucking trees will cause global warming too.

changing water level dynamically is technically impossible for now. Possible to change how the engine works with this, potentially, but it's a p. big hurdle to overcome before things like this can be considered.

It won't work with water but we could do raising lava

rising lava but lava is water

Even rising lava is problematic because units will happily path through the lava. AIs will basically suicide and players will have a hard time issuing move commands that avoid the lava.

Instead of raising water you could lower terrain 🙄

Well, fire enough nukes and you could dynamically "lower" the map's land level. Something tells me that's not at all helpful though XD

yeah deformation is possible, problem is that if you do it for whole map at a time the performance will slow to a crawl as the whole maps pathing is recalculated

But... everything in the game is green energy lol...
