I'd like to be able to press-and-hold a control group number and box-select only units in that control group - so I can for example grab all the group1 units in a mixed battle without pulling my other group1s on the other side of the map

there might be a way to do this with a custom selection key, though i can't come up with it off the top of my head.

ah, actually.. I think the default Q selector in grid keys does what you want - selects visible on screen units that are of the same type as those previously selected (anything not visible is deselected).

so to use it, you would first hit 1 (to select the units in group 1), then hit Q (selects only the units from group 1 that are visible on screen to you now).
